The Moosewood Cookbook has inspired generations to cook simple, healthy, and seasonal food. A classic listed as one of the top ten best-selling cookbooks of all time by the Ne w York Times , this 40th anniversary edition of Mollie Katzen's seminal book will be a treasured addition to the cookbook libraries of fans young and old. In 1974, Mollie Katzen hand-wrote, illustrated, and locally published a spiral-bound notebook of recipes for vegetarian dishes inspired by those she and fellow cooks served at their small restaurant co-op in Ithaca, NY. Several iterations and millions of copies later, the Moosewood Cookbook has become one of the most influential and beloved cookbooks of all time—inducted into the James Beard Award Cookbook Hall of Fame, and coined a Cookbook Classic by the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Mollie’s Moosewood Cookbook has inspired generations to fall in love with plant-based home cooking, and, on the fortieth anniversary of that initial booklet, continues to be a seminal, timely, and wholly personal work. With a new introduction by Mollie, this commemorative edition will be a cornerstone for any cookbook collection that long-time fans and those just discovering Moosewood will treasure. Review: The 40th edition is no different from her first Moosewood cookbook - You can buy the original or you can buy the 40th edition or the New. All three books are alike with some revisions. The point. If you love vegetables and vegetarian cooking, you will like this book. Recipes are easy, flavors are wonderful. Mollie obviously loves strudel. A few recipes for strudel. If you like casseroles, a lot of casseroles. Not a lot of bread baking recipes a few. If you don't like eastern flavors, curries,Mediterranean sauces, there is many of these recipes. You can alter the flavors and the recipe to what you like. I do that all the time. Review: Moosewood is a must! - Moosewood is an essential staple in a vegetarian kitchen. The recipes are all fabulous, delicious and mostly simple.

Great book - arrived damaged.
The book itself looks great, but arrived damaged as it was very poorly packaged - thrown into a loose fitting box with 2 other books and minimal padding.

This is a classic for a reason
Yes, there are newer and more gourmet vegetarian cookbooks out there. After trying recipes from several of those and having many disappointed reactions from my vegetarian daughter and the rest of the family, I decided to go back to this classic. Yes the recipes are often higher in fat and have some seemingly odd and definitely not gourmet flavor profiles. But you know what? My daughter and I made three recipes from here so far and they were all winners. The Zuccanoes (stuffed with brown rice, cheese, hot sauce, worcestershire, sauteed veggies and pumpkin seeds), the layered Eggplant Parmesan (deliciously browned) and the extra-nutty Pesto were all delicious. We'll be going back to those and trying more. I'd rather have a recipe that tastes delicious and needs tweaking for nutrition, than one that is healthy and lacks flavor. These are family style recipes, rather than restaurant style recipes, and like family recipes you can easily adjust them to ingredients you have on hand or your own tastes. But the combinations and ideas are a good place to get started, especially for those, like me, who didn't grow up with vegetarian cooking. The cooking temps and times have been spot on to get the items to the proper doneness and consistency, and all have protein in the form of nuts, cheese, and or legumes.

Beautiful!
Everything about this book is attractive. It appears to be hand written with illustrations also by the very talented author. It makes for a very good read too - the presentation is so good that you find yourself immersed in the recipes and the details - before you have even got to the oven! The ingredients are not difficult to source and she does not resort to over-spicing things which a lot of the more modern vegetarian cook books sometimes tend to do. This is a good all round every day use cook book and I wish I had discovered it years ago. It was well worth the small amount I did pay for a second hand book, and better value than some of the more glossily illustrated ones on today's shelves!

Ridiculement petit, inutilisable
