Okay, when I first purchased this board, I thought how awesome it looked. Usually I don't purchase anything because of the aesthetics. Anywho, the board started showing signs of major issues in the first couple of days. The board wouldn't wake from sleep. This was an issue considering my power bill is already high. I tried everything you could think of. I thought maybe it had something to do with the power supply which isn't the case as well. The USB ports tend to shut off in the back. I'm saying each one, the uSB 2.0's the 3.0's doesn't matter which ones. The mobo also tends to dual post on startup. Last but not least I have gotten the dreaded unstable overclock. When I overclock the board, it tends to shutdown, then restart, then shutdown again. Then you have to press the power button to start the computer back up????????I'm going to RMA the board through Asus, and have them send me a new one. I will probably build a midsized computer and insert him in there. I'm thinking of going to EVGA FTW boards instead of Asus from now. Asus offers 5 year warranties for a reason. Because their hardware has serious issues. I have even flashed the bios. I'm a computer major for crying out loud!!

I'm fairly impressed with this. The temps are all within nominal range with the exception of the USB 3.0 ports. It says 53c I can't figure out why, the strange thing is they aren't connected to anything! The only downside about the thermal armor is certain screws you need to put in place for standoffs you need an extension screw to get in. Fortunately my bit set came with one. Just bare that in mind when you consider this. Don't install the software from the disc. Goto the ASUS website. Once everything was in place the only thing I have to complain about is it's location for the USB motherboard ports, power pins etc, I only mentioned this because I have dual SLI mode graphics cards and with the corsair 750TX power supply things can get pretty tight in this ATX case RC-692-KKN2 by Cooler Master. Ejecting PCI-e slots can be tricky given the tight space otherwise the software alone and the fact you can customize everything is amazing! I am very happy with my decision. I did plenty of research and I'm glad I shelled out a few extra bucks to get what I wanted. If you have the know how or just want to build one for fun it's a great choice. Screw big box computer companies who rip you off for upgrades. I saved $700 with my system configuration over Alienware's base system.

The motherboard itself is excellent. This comment speaks more to Amazon customer service than to the product.We received the original piece quickly and installed it in a computer my son was building. The computer would not boot up, and after very careful examination it turned out that there was a single bent pin on the board. Given the location, it was not possible for him to have done the damage himself so it had to have been shipped with the damage.I contacted Amazon to arrange a return mid-day on a Tuesday. In less than ten minutes, I had a confirmation, a return authorization, a prepaid return label, and a notice that the replacement board was being shipped to me overnight. No charge for the shipping and simply an advisory that I would have to return the defective board within 30 days or I would be charged for the replacement - more than enough time for a turnaround.I received the replacement that next day (Wednesday) by noon. I shipped back the defective board immediately with the prepaid label. The new board installed correctly that same evening and the computer is running perfectly.Now that's customer service. Way to go, Amazon.

I bought and installed the optional fan, but didn't use the computer without it, so I am not sure if it helps. I have used the computer to play the latest games, and the rig did fine even with Witcher 2 on Ultra settings. It can render all day in Blender and octane. Very stable, no problems at all, and has handled everything I have thrown at it. I do not make computers for a living but I have made a few in the past years. I have been making computers since you had to use the flat head to put down the heat sync and scratch the board from slipping or sometimes going through the board on accident. This company has though of everything with this board I believe. I have never seen anything like their mem ok.mem o.k. = ram not reading, push the button on the board to reset the clock so the memory will be o.k.expandable up to 32 gb of ram so I went with the i5 2500k since that is the only processor capable of that from my choices.[...]pros:easiest board to installram o.k. = awsome.asus q = pin connections made easierthis board also has esd prevention. no bracelet needed when installing. :)cons:Kind of pricey but worth it.

This is an excellent and reliable mother board. Asus is extremely efficient at keeping up with the updates for it. Very happy with this purchase.
