Beautiful grass
Fairly slow germination, be sure to use Turf builder triple action along with this as crabgrass will overtake the seed.

16 Days In—Major Difference Already
Here’s some pictures showing the amazing growth after 16 days. I live in Zone 9b. I seeded a new lawn with these Tall Fescue seeds, in addition to White Dutch Clover. The blend is 20% clover seed, 80% tall fescue seed by weight. I water twice a day by hand, and I haven’t stepped foot on the grass—having the pavers to walk around makes watering easier. Still haven’t reached the 21 day mark, and I don’t plan on walking on the grass until at least 30 days in. So far, I’m extremely pleased. EDIT: I made the mistake of letting my dogs play in the yard too early—the root growth was not where it needed to be, so some grass tore up and made patches in my yard. Not the end of the world, but I figured I’d warn any pet owners to make sure the grass has properly rooted itself before introducing any foot or pet traffic.

Great for harsh locations, but watch those expiration dates on the bag.
On the advice of a Scott’s employee, I planted this seed in a thin strip of land located between a concrete walkway and an asphalt driveway. In summer this spot gets very dry and bakes in the hot sun all day. All the grass in this location had died not even weeds would grow there. In early spring, I planted Scott’s Tall Fescue mix after raking out the soil and applying Scott’s starter fertilizer. The seed sprouted in about 2 weeks of daily afternoon watering. The grass in that area slowly thickened up before going dormant in midsummer. It came back to life in late fall and this spring it has become nice and thick. The Scott’s employee advised me that it may take several years for the grass to grow and give me the coverage I was seeking. I am very pleased with the performance of this seed mix in such a harsh location. In only one year, the grass has established itself and is thriving. ONE VERY SERIOUS WORD OF CAUTION WHEN BUYING GRASS SEED FROM AMAZON: I ordered more of this same seed this spring to tackle another trouble spot. It is now March 2024. The seed I received from Amazon had expired September 2023. I returned that unopened bag of seed and allowed Amazon to replace it rather taking a refund. Big mistake. The replacement bag of seed had also expired December 2023. If you buy grass seed from Amazon, make sure you check the expiration date before using the seed or you won’t be able to return it and you’ll be forced to make a warranty claim to the seed company.

I am in love with these Fescue seeds
We live in AZ and have a large yard. In summer our yard is covered with Bermuda seeds and everything looks great. However, we were concerned knowing that once fall arrives, Bermuda grass goes dormant. As we don't want our pup to romp on dirt, we researched and came across this phenomenal Fescue. The package arrived on a Monday and only a week later we saw the grass coming out. Amazing. Right now, mid December we have a green yard with no bare patches even though we are watering much less than we normally water Bermuda in Summer. This is an outstanding seed and we are still surprised to see it grow so strong and beautiful.

Scotts' grass seed just doesn't grow.
Second bag. Second failure to grow. I bought the first bag a month ago. Sowed it in a freshly raked soil. Watered every day and I'm guessing I had a 25% germination rate. It's easy to tell because the seeds are dyed blue. So after three weeks I bought a second bag and tried again. But this time I tossed out some old Pennington (bought over a year ago) that I found in the garage for comparison. Pennington is dyed green so it's easy to tell the two apart. Sowed them both together in the same area (about 10'x10') and watered every day. Blue seed next to Green seed. Three days later the Pennington sprouted. A week later there wasn't a green seed left just fresh sprouts. Littered between all these fresh sprouts was nothing but blue seeds. I will never buy Scotts' seed again. I will, however, stay with their fertilizer. I've used other less expensive fertilizer but my lawn always looks best after using Scotts' Spring, Summer then Winterizer fertilizers.

Grew thick, green, little or no weeds, and it was fast.
It worked. I used it for overseeding and to cover some dead spots. If you’re into lawn care you know that buying a bag of seed is like buying a pack of baseball cards. Sometimes it’s good other times not. This bag germinated in about a week. In two weeks it was providing legitimate coverage to areas that had none. By three weeks my entire lawn is thicker and greener. It notice it hasn’t stopped continuing to sprout up in places. I give it another week or two for maximum value but so far I’m pleased.
