Decent case, well built, smaller than I expected
The double-sided pistol case is pretty nice, though smaller than I expected it to be.You may be able to get 8 guns in there if they were all compact or smaller guns. Full size semi-automatic pistols you may be able to get 6 in the two layers, but they do seem to shift around in there. I would be worried about scratching if I put in more than 4 pistols. I may rig up some kind of separator to keep them from shifting. I did notice that the title of the product page no longer says 8 pistol.Because the pistols go on one side and the accessories go on the other. When you're done at the range (in other words you've used up all the ammunition that was adding weight to the accessory side), the case tips down on the pistol side. It makes it a little difficult to carry, but not unacceptably so.Hardware:--- --- --- --- --- ---The hinges and latches are decent, and the hinges have a bracket to stop the lids from opening more than 90 degrees. There are rubber feet on the hinge side to keep the hinges from hitting a surface when you set the case down. The latches can be locked, but this is not going to be a replacement for a gun safe. These may pass TSA qualifications, but you'll not want to store pistols in the case. The handle is sticky, it doesn't like to move smoothly.--- --- --- --- --- ---Protection:--- --- --- --- --- ---Each compartment is lined with foam of varied densities depending on the intended purpose. The foam is glued into the case, though it does not seem to be very well done. Some of the foam is peeling up or is glued onto other foam, so it is not laying flat. The accessory compartment has two movable foam-covered dividers that are fit into grooves in the foam that goes around the area. The dividers are a little difficult to move, though that should make them less likely to pop out unexpectedly. This compartment has a layer of dense foam on the bottom. The foam in this compartment is all dense foam, about 1/4" thick (except where the grooves are cut into the sides and dividers). The pistol compartment has a layer of the 1/4" dense foam around the interior sides. The bottom of the compartment has a 1/2" or 3/4" sheet of soft foam, and a sheet of eggshell foam (flat on one side) to go between layers of pistols. Both lids have a layer of 1/4" dense foam around the sides with a sheet of eggshell foam glued permanently in place to the top of the lid. The tips of the eggshells are almost perfectly level with the edges of the lid.--- --- --- --- --- ---Dimensions:--- --- --- --- --- ---Since the dimensions are missing from the product description, here they are:Exterior (with the handle facing me and the pistol compartment on top);9" tall8 3/4" deep16 1/2" wideEach lid is about 1 3/4" tall (inside) compressing the eggshell foam as much as possible.Interior - pistol compartment (not including the lid)2 1/2" tall (compressing the bottom foam as much as possible)7 11/16" deep (inside the "hard" foam, not compressing it)15 9/16" wide (inside the "hard" foam, not compressing it)interior - accessories compartment (not including the lid)1 3/8" tall (inside the "hard" foam, not compressing it)7 11/16" deep (inside the "hard" foam, not compressing it)15 9/16" wide (inside the "hard" foam, not compressing it)--- --- --- --- --- ---Overall this is a decent range case, I hope to get a few years of service from it. My impressions, so far, lead me to say I do recommend this pistol case.

Decent case - does the job
This case is pretty good for what I needed it for. It will serve primarily to carry up to 4 pistols to the range and back. It may not be solid aluminum - just the frame from what the literature states, but it is solid enough to provide adequate protection. The pistols go in one side in 2 layers, while the other side holds ammo, magazines, hearing protection, safety glasses, small tools, etc. I like the fact that it is not too big - though it is a bit wide for my liking, but nothing that would be problematic. I should have expected the width considering it opens on both sides and holds 2 layers of pistols as well as storage space. One thing to note - when I first opened the case, a powerful, noxious, nasty, chemical stench reeked from the insides and filled the room. Not sure what it was - but it definitely could not be good for you, as it gave me a migraine. I promptly took it out to the garage, and left the case opened up for a week and after it aired out, the stench was pretty much gone. There are much better cases out there - but for the pricepoint, and for its intended purpose, I find it satisfactory.

False advertising - find a better option
This cheap, plastic, Chinese made piece of junk is not what I expected. The chemical off-gassing that I experienced should have been my first clue. The fake diamond tuck sheeting is all plastic - the only metal is the clasps and hinges. When I opened the sides I literally choked from the off-gas of chemicals. The design is ok, but the padding is misaligned, cheaply constructed and smells completely toxic. Now I'm just hoping it will vent and calm down because it's not worth the hassle to me to try to return it. Can't believe I paid $50+ for this. Design is fine, it's the rest that lacks. It looks so good in the pics.

Trim and clean!
This appears to be a very well-made box. There is a bit of ill-fitting trim in one of my compartments but a few seconds with an X-Acto fixed it right up (overlapping of some lining material). You shouldn't order this expecting a bank vault but it's stout enough that I wouldn't feel concerned putting it on a baggage carousel. I did notice that on the undivided side (where I keep my pistol) the "clamping" effect of the convoluted foam isn't as tight as I'd like. Fortunately, I had a bit of 1/2" foam that I cut to fit behind one of the existing "egg crates" and now it holds my pistol (full size 1911) very securely with no shifting.

Sportlock Aluminumlock Series Double-Sided Pistol Case
While looking for a larger case I found the Sportlock Aluminumlock Series Double-Sided Pistol Case. This case having two opening sides with plenty of storage while being light weight made it a great buy. One side has foam on the bottom and top with a thick middle piece so you can fill both layers. The foam is the right thickness where you can use it for just one small pistol without it moving or you can pack 6 pistols safely. On the other side it has the foam top and bottom just like the other but has slots with dividers for storing ammo boxes or different things you might want while traveling. The dividers can also be taken out and you can place foam for more pistol storage. Both sides have 2 lockable latches on each side that keep it tight but not a great security feature as the holes for locks are very small and the latches could be broken off without much effort. While using this case to go shooting I normally carry 2 to 5 handguns on the padded side and the other is full of ammo and supplies. The supply side I found fits more than expected as I have packed it full of 4 50 round boxes of ammo, small ear protection, a bag for empty ammo shells, the entire contents of the Hoppe's Elite Gun Kit on the Go Cleaning Kit, cleaning rags, and various small tools.
