How wide is the gap between the grill bars? Is it enough to be able to get to your winch?

Yes, I have a 12.5 ton winch on mine. Depending on your model JK, you may have to saw-cut the winch plate on the right-rear portion near a sway bar arm, about 1"x2", in order to fit the winch plate. It will be tight getting the winch in, but is doable.
