Write Right!: A Desktop Digest of Punctuation, Grammar, and Style

The ONLY thing wrong with it is it is no longer printed in a spiral-bound format! The first one I purchased was and I wore it out. I purchased this one in 2018 in the hope that a spiral-bound one would be offered later, sadly, it never was. This was the book I needed high school and even university. I still want it in spiral-bound format so the book will lay flat as it is used. This book is a necessary tool for all English speakers for while English is easy to learn to speak it is horrible to learn to write - right!

Writing is a lost art...this book is a helpful compliment to growing library. Excellent purchase-arrive on time and in excellent condition.

I purchased this book several years ago, but had misplaced it. I recently purchased it again because it is such a useful reference tool and I found myself time and again wishing that I could pull it out of my desk drawer. I am an attorney and one's ability to write properly elevates his or her credibility with other attorneys, clients, and judges. This book is easy to use so that time is never wasted looking up information. The explanations and examples are very straight forward so that most of the time I am able to recall the examples and don't have to look up the information again. I also bought a copy for home for my kids to use since undoubtedly they will soon realize that they have to "unlearn" their poor habits picked up while text messaging.

I had one of these and bought this writing book for my college bound granddaughter. She has already used it and says it is a great resource in writing her papers.

If you're writing anything this book is a wealth of information.

I bought this book for my sister (a wannabe writer)- she was going to buy this book at a major book retail store- and I told her to try Amazon to get a better price. I found this one used, but it looked 100% unread and brand new when I got. My sister loved the book, and I loved that I saved so much on it. Amazon is the best for buying books at a huge savings.

The writer tried to create a comprehensive book, however it was at times daunting to read. I was looking for a book that would improve my writing skills, but instead found my self nodding off trying to read it. The contents are great and well written. ( Obviously ) but the style was just off for me personally. Making it seem like I was back in college reading English textbooks, where I often wanted to nod off there too. It was OK, but didn't quite hit the mark for this reader. But I can appreciate all the work the author put into the book.

It's exactly what I was looking for.

Must have for the authors!!

I loved this book. It explains the basics of English grammar with funny and clear examples that made me laugh aloud. I think it is the first book of grammar I read until the end.

I've been using this text personally and with creative writing students for about 20 years. Sadly I lost my print copy during an office refurb so I simply *had* to buy a new one. It's saved me a few blushes over the years!

Ideal for those considering a course in Proof Reading as it helps with some of the English fundamentals that you may have forgotten from school.

This book can certainly help some people but I won't ever recommend this book to all. There are better books available, like: "The joy of Syntax" by June Casagrande; "Eats, shoots and leaves" by Lynne Truss; "Dreyer's English" by Benjamin Dreyer; and the last shall be "Woe is I" by Patricia T. O'Conner. As I proposed in the first sentence, this book can certainly help some people but I won't recommend this book to all.
