My son wanted a hat to keep his neck cool. This does the job. He wears it with the flap out whenever we leave the house. We go outdoors a lot, so it's already gotten plenty of use.

I got what I was expecting: a decent sun hat that doesn't look like something my mother would garden in. Quality seems fine so far.Im not sure how much I'll love the neck flap, but as a stage 3 melanoma survivor I wanted to at least try it.I do think the chinstrap will be helpful. I like to drive with my Windows and sun roof open in the summer so now I have a hat to protect me that won't fly off.One potential negative I'd like to point out for some people is the size. Yes, it comes with a string to adjust the hat to the circumference of your head. For me, adjusting to the largest size fits me just right. That's all well and good for me, but I don't really consider myself to have a big head (or maybe I do and no one ever told me). The point is, if you think you have a big head, you may want to pay close attention to the measurements provided.I'm not going to pretend like I'll definitely update this review with new thoughts, but if you come across this review and it's been a while, feel free to ask a question as a comment to this review and I might try to make time to answer it.

I needed a new fishing hat, as the old one disintegrated. I was looking for a new one with a wider brim to help stop punctures when my fly cast fails me. It worked perfectly and my hat fits comfortably. It does the job of screening me from the sun very nicely and stays on in a breeze. In short, it does everything I need a fly fishing hat to do.For any fly fishers looking for a wide brimmed, foldable hat, this is a good choice.

Disappointed with this hat. When I first saw this hat the price was cheaper. I've noticed the price keeps going up. Probably due to the popularity or just greed of the seller. It's really just now an over-priced hat and not worth the price. If it were $10 cheaper - maybe.From what I've seen there are plenty of the same versions of this hat around here that would be a better selection.The one I received had a bad day with the seamstress and full of sewing flaws. Some quality control is needed so a customer isn't disappointed.The only good thing I can say about this hat is it does block the sun from your face and neck. The really bad part is the inside of the hat gets too hot and cooks your head. The small vents do nothing. The band inside the .hat turn into a big sweatband.I had to keep removing the hat to cool off the top of my heat.It may do well as a sun blocker, but it certainly retained a lot of heat.If I had not worn this hat a bit, I would have returned it. I don't see me wearing this on hot summer days. Maybe cooler spring and fall days.

I LOVE this hat! Its perfect for me,because,the back,isn't stiff like the front is.I can lean back and not move the hat around..Its perfect,and the neck guard tucks neatly into the crown.I might get another one for my x-country trip. Nice wide brim all the way around,fits great!! My favorite hat!!!!

Overall: Good hat! The wide brim really helps to keep the sun off your face , and the neck flap also works as expected. It feels a bit floppy when you first take it out of the box but when you put it on your head it keeps its shape very well.Fit: I measured my head at 24.5" and the hat fit comfortably. It has a drawstring to tighten it up if you have a smaller head.Con: The only thing I was a little disappointed in is the sweat band. It's there but I sweat a lot and the sweat band is rather anemic. I'd give 5 stars if it had a thick moisture wicking sweat band sewn in.

My husband has very fair skin and has had a couple of places removed from his scalp in the last couple of years that were squamous cell cancer, so he really wants to protect himself. The last hat he had did a good job but the neck flap wasn't very long or wide and the brim didn't extend to cover this nose. This hat is exactly what I was looking for and he really likes it, too. The brim more than covers his entire face and ears and extends out to cover his nose as well. The flap keeps his neck covered and the hat is so lightweight his head stays cool (well, as cool as can be expected when you're mowing!). I've washed the hat several times and it looks great. He likes the way it folds up for easy storage. Wonderful purchase and I would buy it again in a minute. Would work well for the fisherman in your life too!

I should have heeded the picture. This hat is gigantic, and I have a large head !Its actually too big. Not only does the huge brim block the sun, it seems to always block my view. The neck protector bunches up and is uncomfortable. But I have to admit, when it comes to sun protection, you can't do much better than this.So if you don't like the sun, put this shade tree on your head and you will be assured of a sun protection on a huge scale!
