The benefits far outweigh the added noise
I have a 2010 Rockwood Freedom 1910 that had the older style Powerwinch model P55012 which I replaced with the newer model P92001. The motors on the older models don't seem to fail all at once, but slowly over time (according to Powerwinch tech support). Mine got to the point that it couldn't make it to the top without blowing a fuse or tripping the breaker. The newer model (P92001) has improved in several ways with the exception of the noise level which, as other reviewers have noted, is considerably louder. On the positive side:- Much faster- More powerful- Better gearing system- Easier to adjust the upper/lower stops- Not messy as in no grease needed (although a dry silicone lubricant is helpful according to tech support from Powerwinch)- Less/simpler wiring- No fuse to blow (a 40A breaker only)- A drop in replacement for the P55012A plus in my situation was that I was able to use the existing cover with just a couple of modifications (a new hole to access the manual override (round silver cover in the pictures) and a new hole for the switch).Overall, I can deal with the extra noise for all of the benefits and hey, it's only for a short time anyway. On the pictures... I added the aluminum plate behind the instructions around the switch and the orange tool is the up/down adjustment tool and is included with the winch. Any questions, just ask.

2011 Rockwood 282 xtr lift motor
So far this motor/winch has operated as advertised. I replaced the older version of the same lift and it was actually much easier to do than I thought it would be. It probably took about 45 minutes to an hour and could have been faster had I gathered all necessary tools before I started. Also, I had to move the operating switch since the clearance is different with the new motor and that probably took the most time. The only issue I've ran into so far is that the supplied switch failed after only using the lift twice(that's why this is getting 4 stars and not 5). I've now installed a new, higher quality switch and it's working fine. As other reviews stated, it does lift the top much faster than the old lift and seems to require much less battery power to do it. I really like that the "manual" lift override is a 3/4" direct drive nut and not the super small 3/8's or 7/16s worm gear that the old one was which I twisted off after one use. After reading all the other reviews on here, I surprisingly don't find this winch to be that much noisier that the old one. It's definitely louder, but nothing that I would have really noticed if not for the other reviews I read for this lift. I was expecting it to be ear splitting, but it's not that bad. I don't camp in campgrounds around others I don't know so noise would rarely be an issue anyway.

Perfect replacement for my Flagstaff PUP
Very strong but very loud winch. It brings the top of my 2008 Flagstaff up in like 8 seconds flat. But if you arrive late night in a campground and raise your roof you’re gonna make a lot of enemies in that 8 seconds!Installation was not easy but if you’re handy it’s not bad. Generic top and bottom covers did not fit on my PUP at all so I had to go with original lift cover. Not the end of the world but a new cover would be nice.Wiring was straightforward.Setting the limits was made difficult by the need to turn the little tool like 100 rotations before you get to the point where the limit switch actually cuts in. Other than that very straightforward. If you have an older PUP you may wish to buy a replacement cable. I found my cable was pretty badly frayed. I had previously ordered an OEM replacement from Goshen lift. Gave them my VIN and they made it to order. Consider it a $50 insurance policy. It paid off for me.To summarize this winch gets the job done. Hopefully I’ll get years of service from it.I’m a satisfied customer.

Great replacement for older model Carefree winch.
Used the new P92001 winch to replace my old P30001 Carefree winch. For clarity sake the P92001 is the same as the P55012. The first being OEM verses replacement. The winch used the same bolt pattern as the old one and was fairly easy to install. For cabling there is just the power cable to go up to the battery and the line going to the switch. The stop and start adjustment is also much easier than the previous unit. One small gotcha is the new spindle is larger so if your cable is already on the short side you might not have enough to get the recommended 2-3 winds at the down position. I only got about 1.5. Hopefully it will be enough. The new winch uses less power than previous models. The wires are thinner and it only has a 40A breaker on it verses 50A before. This one can also lift 1200 lbs. Since it no longer uses a worm drive lubricating the gears is not required per Carefree support. The new unit is very loud in operation but it works well and is pretty fine.
