The Little Engine That Could Review: Favorite childhood story - This was a childhood favorite of mine. My son loves it as well. I should’ve read the size on the book because it came much smaller than I was hoping for. Review: This is the edition to get -- it is the original text and drawings - With so many purchase choices of this book, which one is the "right" one? Well, if you are looking for the book you remember from childhood, it is this one. It's the same size as the one you remember and has the same drawings. (Everything will come flooding back as soon as you crack the book open!) It is a facsimile of what was originally published in 1930. Also: some reviews believe the text has been rewritten to carry a "feminist" message. That is nonsense. Regardless if you see this text in terms of feminism, this is, in fact, the same text as the 1930 edition. Yes, the engine that could -- the blue one -- is identified as "her." I didn't remember that being an issue when I read this as a child and I very much doubt most children will see that today. If you want to gift a child a memory that you had years ago, it is with this particular edition.

Read it aloud for my granddaughter
This is a classic children's book teaching the importance of perseverance and determination in life. I read this to my own children about 35 years ago. Now I recorded my reading it aloud to my 2-year-old granddaughter, who lives hundreds of miles away, and I sent the recording to her dad, who linked it to a Yoto card for her Yoto Mini player. They also purchased this book so she could follow along. This is a timeless book, no matter what generation you're reading it to.

Great story & art. I'm 85 & had & loved that as a boy.
BUT, It had been preowned as a name and a scribble attested and was supposed to have been brand new. It was otherwise in great shape4.

The Little Engine That Could book
This is one of many books that my son requested for him to read to his little boy since they were stories that I used to read to him over 50 years ago. It is a charming story that inspires children to keep going through tough times and not give up. The book came well packaged, on time and as advertised. as far as what age it’s for, I believe it’s not ever too soon to start reading to children even if they can’t understand the context yet, it’s a communication bond that is being formed with them.

An American classic which will appeal to all small children. The text satisfyingly echos the sound of the little train winning against all odds. My 3 year old grand daughter got out her bricks after hearing the story and made a train.

Pour pousser mon enfant à lire en anglais de manière ludique. Super ! Et une histoire pour montrer qu’il ne faut jamais baisser les bras même quand c’est dur.

So happy to share a beloved childhood story with our boys. I didn't remember it being a girl train though. Not that that is a bad thing. :)

Bought for my 3 year old grandson at Christmas. He loves the book and asks repeatedly for it to be reread. The illustrations are lovely with an old fashioned feel.
