Introduce young readers to the fascinating process of how catepillars become butterflies. Follow the transformation from a tiny white egg laid on a leaf to a brilliantly colored butterfly in this kid-friendly introduction to metamorphosis. With detailed, bright watercolors, Gail Gibbons illustrates the life cycle of the monarch butterfly, stage by stage, as it grows, changes, and takes flight. With clear, labeled diagrams and simple text that defines and reinforces important vocabulary, Monarch Butterfly introduces key concepts of insect anatomy and behavior. And of course, the unique migration of the monarch-- which can range up to four thousand miles-- is covered, with descriptions of how the insects travel, and how people in their path celebrate the occasion. This classic look at butterflies also includes directions on raising your own monarch at home, and a page of fun facts about these colorful butterflies. Review: Good Book - This is a good book for the 8 and under crowd. It isn't too hard, it's beautifully illustrated, and it clearly explains the lifecycle of the monarch butterfly. Perfect for my daughter, who will be studying Monarch Butterflies in depth in first grade next year. Review: Great book - Lots of facts and great illustrations

Lots of information included!
I love that the book is packed with great information about Monarchs, but I am confused by the layout of the first few pages. In my copy, the first two pages begins with text and illustration and then the third and fourth pages are title pages and copyright information. Then the fifth page is back to text and illustration. I would assume that it wasn't supposed to be that way...but I'm disappointed that my copy seems to be misprinted.
