Tripp Lite FireWire IEEE 1394 Cable (6pin/6pin) 6-ft.(F005-006)

I purchased an Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter, an elago FireWire 400 to 800 Adapter, and a Tripp Lite FireWire® IEEE 1394 Cable (6pin/6pin) 6-ft.(F005-006) all together, hoping to connect my old kerosene-powered LACIE external hard drive (Firewire 400, 6pin) to my 15" Macbook Pro Thunderbolt input.Connected one end of the 6pin Firewire 400 cable to the old LACIE hard drive, plugged the other end of the 6pin Firewire 400 cable into the elago 400-800 adapter, then plugged the Firewire 800 end of the elago adapter into the Apple Firewire 800-Thunderbolt adapter, and then plugged the Thunderbolt output of the Apple adapter into the 15" Macbook Pro (all hot).The LACIE drive immediately appeared on the desktop, and both reading and transferring files has worked perfectly from the first try. The Macbook Pro is a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7, running Mac OSx 10.8.5. I'm thrilled that this actually works, and very quickly too.

I'm using it to connect the external drive to an Apple computer and to play the music library and plain digital hoarding.It does work excellent. The only problem was the packaging because the outside rubber shell got slightly damage as the cable came inside the bag badly bent. This, though, did not prevent the cable to work well.---Funciona super bien con la computadora Apple y el HDD externo. Unico problema fue que el cable venia doblado de tal manera que arruino un poco el tubo de goma protectora exterior. Pero aun así este cable funciona excelente!

The cable arrived as advertised and it worked as needed. Good value. I used this connect two old macbooks in order to do the target disk mode feature. I only used it 2-3 times to transfer a couple GB of data and it worked great. (So I can't comment on its long-term reliability.)

I was able to control a SONY DVCAM 1500A play/rec with the above mentioned cable . No hiccups or glitches just plugged in launched Premiere Pro CS5 and that was it .

Great quality and price, shipping speed could have been a little faster.

This product does what it is advertised to do. My only concern is that when you have two USB ports stacked on top of each other, you cannot use two of them stacked because the rubber around the plug end is so thick until it prevents a second USB plug from utilizing the second USB plug-in spot. But other than that it is find.

Nice cable. Gold plated ends. The wire is thicker than I expected, 6mm/.23" The 15 foot length is nice, as I use this cable to connect my mobile guitar equipment rack (the MOTU 828mk3 inside) to my pc.

Very solid construction and worked well. A little stiff and heavy for the purpose, but that's better than too little shielding or protection. A good value.
