Liberon GCVER30 30ml Gilt Cream Versailles

Excellent. I have used this product a lot over the years. I've already freshened up various items. It's a subtle gilt that does not fight with what remains if the original. It does not look newly gilded. Easy to apply with a finger. When dry it buffs up to a gentle sheen.

Does the job

Covers a very large area and goes on well. Value for money, good quality, has enhanced a large frame which was first gessoed.

This product was bought to touch up large ornate gold mirror, it worked very well, would recommend.

This is the original and best, from a well known and respected company. I generally use my gilt cream over a red lead (fake) undercoat, so that I can rub it back to give the appearance of great age, and Liberon waxes are the only ones I have used (and I have tried quite a few - I have even tried making my own) that really do the job. You can also use it over a cream background to get the real Versailles look! It comes in a small glass jar, but it goes a very long way. Easy to use and very effective.

Easy to use coverage great, dries quickly

I bought this cream to touch up an old picture frame I was repairing. Sadly this cream can only be classed as a copper colour rather than any form of gold. Even an antique gold is brighter than this. The coverage is quite thin also so if you are thinking of using it to gild something, as they say you can, think again. It's going to take coats and coats. It's basically a gilt wax, more wax than pigment to be honest, not much use for gilding but it smells lovely, like incense sticks! Not even close to Liberon's usual standard of product it has to be said.
