Orbit Sprinkler System 1-Inch NPT Jar Top Valve 57461, Green

I needed a new sprinkler valve to replace a broken one, this one worked perfectly… And was reasonably priced.

In general a very good design and easy to install and to use device. It can be easily damaged by freezing. I live in Texas and all three of them bursted in the past winter. Cracks are at the cover parts. A little leftover water with supply hose shutoff can damage them during winter. The black one in the same photo survived. Looks like these valves must be drained for winterization.

Good Quality

this product works as it should. was relatively easy to install. the only issue is a slight buzzing sounding as it receives the signal from the panel. the noise does not go away until the switch is shut off. its a low toned buzzing sound which should not be a problem for most valves that are in boxes underground. I would recommend this product for its value and ease of use.

Connected this up to two 9v batteries and used some other plumbing supplies to make an air powered rocket launcher! Works perfectly! (as far as actually using it for its INTENDED use, I've got these installed in my sprinkler system, and haven't had any issues in the two years they've been hooked up. Seem to be pretty solid devices).

At first a little worried about the flow restriction; re-phrase that A LOT WORRIED. I applied 24 volts on the solenoid and could hear and feel the solenoid engaging. Having no experience with a electrically operated water valve I assumed it to be in the open position, but yet I could hardly blow through the valve. Well after purchasing another 1 just like it, I had the same effect, Would not open enough to even count. To make this story shorter I made a little 3/4" adapter for a water hose hook-up and with the pressure it seems to open fully, kinda like when applying the operating voltage to the solenoid you just unlock the valve, after that a small amount of water pressure will open the valve fully. By saying fully I am going by a container I used. It took 17 seconds to fill the container using the solenoid valve and when I took it off and ran through just a straight hose my timing was still 17 seconds. I needed the second one I bought just to try out the first one about a week later on a ground coupled heat pump. So far no problems from either one.

This Orbit valve is the way to go! Easy install and once it’s in, super easy to unscrew the lid & replace the internals. Price very reasonable. Highly recommend!
