State of the art!
this tool is more than that its a work of art. It made me look like a pro with perfect precise cuts, SO far im just so impressed. Dewalt has made a joke out of setting this saw and the cart that they made for it, a caveman could do it/1 lol

Great tool
I didn't know what I was missing before I bought a 12" miter saw. The Dewalt 780 is well made and very accurate but also quick to change from cut to cut. My saw needed some tweaking on the pre-set stops but that was an easy thing to do. After that it was ready to go. The fit and finish of everything was good. The slides are a little rough at first but seem to wear in over a little bit of time. That was a concern at first and other reviews mention it as well but it doesn't seem to be a problem now. The sawdust bag works okay but has very limited capacity. The shadow light also works very well. Mine is slightly off (maybe .005) but after using it for a while it's easy to compensate. It's a great feature. I haven't looked at the manual to see it that's adjustable but it's only off by something like the width of a sharp pencil line and once you've adjusted yourself to that you can split a pencil line. The motor torque is surprisingly strong at start up. A soft start would have been better but, again, it's a very minor issue on a great saw. Purists and professionals may not love this as much as me but it's fast, easy and accurate for my needs. My radial arm saw hasn't even been turned on since I got this 780. I also bought the Dewalt stand. It works great too. The work support adjustments require some tweaking to get perfect when there's a need to change them but it's easy enough. If you have a jamb level it's REALLY easy. The extension arms work well on long material and stay pretty level even when extended way out. I've added this mini review because it's such a good companion piece with the saw. If this was lost or stolen I'd order a new one immediately. It's just incredibly fast to work with; it's easy to change the setups and the cuts are very nice. I did buy a better blade for trim work but the stock blade works fine for less delicate pieces.

Solid Saw
Beast of a saw, probably overkill for most things. Very well made, was perfectly square on arrival.

Perfect Out of the Box, A Pleasure to Use
I was a little nervous after reading reviews claiming sticky slides. My DWS780 arrived in a beat-up box, but the saw was perfect when it came out of that box. Perfectly in square, both bevel and miter. The slides run as smooth as silk, not the slightest catch or crunch. I was prepared to buy a replacement blade right away, as the blades on new saws are often junk, but the 60 tooth finish blade produced cross cuts with a surface like glass. I checked the intermediate miter and bevel stops with my digital bevel gauge, and they are right on. The fences are flat (checked with a Starrett straight edge) and square to the table. The LED light is a more precise line-up device than the laser on my previous SCMS. Overall operation and cut quality are the best of any unit I've used, including some very pricey European tools. Still, it's not perfect. A soft start motor would be a worthwhile improvement, as the considerable jolt on startup is requires heavy pressure on the workpiece, which is tiring. The hold-down clamp is sloppy and difficult to tighten without shifting the workpiece. Dust collection is a joke. The dust bag is useless, and the odd size dust collection tube is too small to be effective with a ShopVac and it runs all the way to the rear of the slides, which already project way too far to mount the saw reasonable close to a wall. Update March 20, 2015 Still working perfectly after several months of everyday use. I have not had to make the first adjustment. My previous SCMS required almost daily cajoling or threats before it would deliver square cuts. The DeWalt blade is still scalpel sharp and completely vibration free. I am now completely comfortable and accurate with the LED guide light and no longer lower the saw to put a tooth on the mark before pulling the trigger. My only regret is that I didn't swap my old saw for this one years ago.

Excellent saw, difficult customer service!
We buy Dewalt whenever we can, and this saw is excellent, very sturdy, and right on the money for miter corners. The size is great, and it is not too heavy. I can move it easily. The cast aluminum fence if very heavy duty. The reason I am giving it 4 stars, is customer service. I needed to speak to customer service about a small issue. The person on their help number had difficulties understanding my question (it was simple). They finally gave me the number of the service center "closest to my location". The service person said I could bring in the saw, and asked where I am located. I said WV. They were in CA.....When I said the enclosed tool would not loosen the screw on the blade (as the manual stated it would do most easily), he said, well they used an impact wrench....So, I drove back to Lowes and purchased an impact wrench to change the blade....As I said, I love the saw, but my experience with their customer service was not stellar.

Good saw to own
Couldn't ask for a better saw... all around very good choice to buy.

Great Accuracy, Shadow Light works well
I bought this to replace a Metabo saw that frankly was an ergonomic disaster, nor could the saw maintain fixed stop points.. The settings were accurate straight out of the box. The shadow line works well, I've had previous saws that used a laser light that frankly didn't last a year before going dead. Hopefully the shadow light lasts longer. The only flaw in the saw is the dust collection system, DeWalt placed a soft rubber seal at the entrance to the dust collection system, it tends to actually block the entrance (I'm connected to a 2hp dust cyclone, so it pulls a large volume of air.

Perfect Mitre for wood working
This is high quality machine. It came 99% accurate right out of the box. I was also surprised to see that it is 'Made in Italy'. Everything inside looks like it was made for European market. It comes with adjustable speed and the shadow light (an awesome feature to have). Only concern was the import date 08/2023. But i got a very good deal and works perfectly.

Lourd mais utile
Cette scie est lourde, et montée sur un rail dewalt, mis à part comment baisser le bras, mais c'est un outil super génial qui scie des poteaux de 90 mm voire plus. Je le conseille
