Excellent Performance and Quality - VIAIR 400P-RV Automatic Portable Compressor
I recently purchased the VIAIR 400P-RV/40047 Automatic Portable Compressor, and it has been an outstanding addition to my toolkit. From the first use, the quality of this product stood out. It's well-built, robust, and feels like it's made to last, which is exactly what I was looking for. One of the most impressive aspects of this compressor is its noise level. It's noticeably quieter compared to other less expensive models I've used in the past. This is a significant advantage, especially when inflating tires in quieter campgrounds or residential areas, where minimizing noise is essential. The performance of the VIAIR 400P-RV is top-notch. It's efficient in inflating tires for my RV, truck, and Jeep, making it a versatile tool. The 150 PSI/2.30 CFM specification means it works quickly and effectively, saving me time and effort. Additionally, its portability is a huge plus. It's easy to store and carry around, making it an ideal tool for road trips and outdoor adventures. Another aspect worth mentioning is the simplicity of use. The kit comes with everything needed to get started, and the instructions are straightforward, making it accessible even for those who are not air compressor savvy. In conclusion, the VIAIR 400P-RV Automatic Portable Compressor is a fantastic investment. Essential for RV & 4x4 Owners
My recent acquisition of the VIAIR 400P-RV/40047 Automatic Portable Compressor has been a transformative addition to my RV and 4x4 off-road experiences. As someone who regularly uses an RV, the task of clearing out water lines has become significantly simpler and more efficient with this compressor. It's a real boon for saving time, particularly during the preparation and conclusion of trips. Moreover, when I engage in off-roading with my 4x4 Jeep, ensuring optimal tire pressure is essential for both performance and safety. In this regard, the VIAIR compressor has been outstandingly dependable for inflating my Jeep's tires. The ability to have a portable air pump that effectively manages the demanding tires of both an RV and a Jeep is extremely valuable. The most impressive aspect is its efficiency in saving time. Inflating my large Jeep tires can often be a lengthy process, but this compressor operates swiftly and seamlessly, eliminating the need to locate a gas station with a slow functional air pump. Regarding its construction and usability, the compressor is solid and well-made. It strikes the perfect balance between being portable for easy transportation and sturdy enough to meet the needs of larger vehicle tires. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly endorse the VIAIR 400P-RV/40047 Automatic Portable Compressor for anyone with an RV or 4x4 vehicle. This tool is not just great for easy tire inflation, but also excels at other tasks like clearing water lines with minimal effort. It's an indispensable item for your RV or off-road gear collection!

Lots of power
This is a great compressor! It is compact and has a durable carrying case to keep all components organized. The compressor works great on my Class C motorhome wheels. Comes with lots two hoses that reach from the front of the right all the way to the back. Abd the battery cables are of nice length too. Easy to use, low noise level, and love the auto shut off feature. I do recommend this to any RV owner.

Boy am I happy with my Viair!
We got a new motorhome in August, and this unit had come up repeatedly in several RVing Facebook groups, highly recommended by many users. My wife didn't think we needed to spend the $$, until our first trip for a long weekend, when we went to 7 different gas stations and couldn't find a working air hose. (And paid $1.50-$2 at a couple only to find out the air didn't work). Used it to keep all 6 tires at optimum pressure and blow crud out of exterior storage after two weeks of desert camping. The extension with the dual chuck makes it simple to air up both the inner and outer rear dualies without any valve extensions. Love having the extra hose. Our rig is only 25' but you never know. My only complaint would be no AC adapter. Our rig has outdoor, inverted plugs, and it would be easier than popping the hood and running the chassis engine every time I want to use it. Unit is well made, good accessories and a nice carrying case. The 12v leads could be 3' longer, but I guess that's why the extra hose. Overall, must have for anyone spending time on the road in a rig that needs more than 40lbs in the tires.

Works well for my RV tires
My RV tires are 245/70R19.5 and need to be inflated to 100 to 110 PSI, depending on the load, so this is significantly more difficult than a normal 35 psi car tire. My RV does not have a spare tire, so proper inflation is extra important. I also own a Bon-Aire BA121L 120V compressor with a claimed 2/3 HP I can run with the RV generator, but in testing it on an RV tire ( taking them from 40 to 100 PSI ) I had to quit after 25 minutes ( including 10 minutes of cool down time in the middle, per the manual ) at just 90 PSI when the compressor started to smoke. I replaced it with the Viair 400P-RV. I looked at the 450P, liking the continuous duty, but the 400P puts out more air, so the higher fill rate of the 400P seemed like a good idea. Also, it comes with all the parts you need to remotely fill a high pressure, high volume tire which, if it explodes while you're squatting next to it, can easily kill you. If you doubt this, do a search on youtube for "tire explosion" and you'll be convinced. First impression: It's solidly built and comes with a nice selection of accessories, including two extra air filters, toy and needle attachments, 60 feet of coiled hose in two 30 foot segments and a hand held valve so you can stand well away from the tire while filling. It has an air filler wand and a screw-on filler. The bag it comes in could be little more rugged, but it's not too bad. It's also pretty big, with a bulge on the front of the bag for one of the coiled hoses and another on the back for the other hose. In the bag it's actually not that much smaller than some of the smallest 120V compressors that I've seen. But this is smaller and lighter and runs on 12V, so I can use with my towed Jeep, too. The compressor has a pressure switch on the back by the on/off switch that turns the motor off when it gets to about 150PSI, so you can leave the compressor on without worrying about damaging it or the hoses by over-pressurizing them if it's not connected to a tire. Nice touch. To test the Viair, I dropped the pressure in one tire to 40 PSI and connected the compressor. The inline gauge read the same as my regular gauge when it wasn't filling, but it read very high while the air is going in. Just pause the filling to get an accurate reading. The compressor seemed to be filling the tire pretty quickly which was good because you have to hold the "trigger" on the valve open to fill the tire. At least it's easy to hold open, so it's not too difficult. I would release the "trigger" to check the pressure every couple of minutes and in the few seconds it would take for the pressure in the gauge to equalize with the tire, the pressure switch on the compressor would shut it off. It would kick right back on as soon as I continued to flow air into the tire. About 7 minutes after I started ( probably about 6:30 in actual compressor run time ) the tire was at 100 PSI and I stopped the test. This is significantly less than the listed duty cycle, which means it could have run longer if it needed to. I lost a little pressure taking the filler off the tire and putting my pressure sensor back on, but when I turned my tire pressure monitor system on it said the tire was at 98 PSI. That's pretty close to what the gauge read. The cylinder head on the compressor and the air line were hot to the touch, but the motor exterior was just moderately warm. I had to let it sit for about 10 minutes before I was comfortable putting it in the bag. I'm pleased that it can fill a large tire to a high pressure with some reserve capability left over. It's not cheap, but it's a good compressor and includes everything you need to fill an RV tire, or all 4 tires on your 4x4 if you use it in the sand. The Bon-Aire is going in the yard sale, this is going in the tool compartment on the RV.

Still Learning to Read Accurately
Quite like this tool overall. Fills my pick-up and trailer tires quickly, nice looooong reach (can easily fill spare tire on back of 25-foot trailer when connected to battery in front of truck, more than adequate pressure, and good, sturdy accessories. The one (minor) downside is I haven't figured out just how to read the pressure gauge. Do I read it as I'm filling the tires, or stop filling and read then. directions ambiguous here, so I simply use a standard tire gauge (as I would at a filling station). Other than that, would be 5-stars.

Portable ... barely! Effective - YES!
I have had several portable compressors and most of them are lucky to blow up a basketball. I spotted the Viair P88 and though this would be good to carry in the motor home to fill car tires in case of emergency. For some reason, when I have a low tire, it is in an area where the air pumps all take quarters and only have 2 lbs of air per quarter, if they even work. Many suffer from customer abuse and the stations make money whether they fix and maintain them or not. So, my answer is be self sufficient. The reviews on the P88 were all good, with a few complaints regarding length of hose and battery cables. Looking at this, it had standard hoses (2 hoses come with it) and industrial connectors. Rated to fill tires on an RV. I haven't even tried. One tire on a CR-V was about 7 lbs low for no apparent reason, so I broke this compressor out of it's case and hooked it up. No problem. Large battery clips fit battery terminals with ease. Nice size. 12v power cord allowed me to move the unit almost to the back tire. I only needed one air hose and could fill both back tires by going around the back of the car. I like the gauge on the filler handle and you have the option of a flexible rubber screw on end or the normal fill end found at most stations. This one is long which means you can reach the valve stem without getting on your knees when it is at the bottom of the tire ... or if you have dual tires, it goes right through the outer tire and fills the inner tire as well. Great plan for an RV or any vehicle with dual tires. Worked well on single tires also. Then since I had it hooked up and running, I added the second hose and was able to get completely around the car sitting next to the CR-V. Awesome. It does make a little noise, but I have never heard an air compressor of any type that didn't make noise. I found it interesting the compressor ran to fill the tire with air and stopped running when I wasn't filling the tire. When detaching hoses ... they were pressurized. I found the air gauge to be accurate (tested with two other gauges). Reads correctly when you stop filling to read. This unit comes with a couple of extra air filters for incoming air also.

Easy to use
Used it to inflate my 265/65/r17 tires after driving through the desert. Was able to get up from 15psi to 35psi in under 10mins for all 4 tires. Connecting the air hoses and even to the battery was quite simple with no sparks or any shenanigans. Straight forward usage, not as loud as I thought it'd be, on the far end of the vehicle, it was barely audible. I'd recommend it. Easy to store in the bag too. Very convenient

Exactly what I needed
I have a triple axle 5th wheel that calls for high tire inflation rates. I had bought a cheaper inflator from one of the big box stores but it self destructed after the third use. The Viair line comes highly recommended and I can attest that it's a great unit. While it is admittedly rather expensive, it does it's job beautifully and is quieter than I expected. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.
