Remo ET-8227-00 Eastern Collection Kanjira

I already own an original Lizard skin Kanjira which does sound great, but l wanted the option of tuning the drum without adding water, so l went for the Remo. It tunes quite accurately, though it only has 4 tuning screws.. 6 tuning screws would give a more accurate and balanced tuning over the drumhead. Saying that, it is still a good quality Kanjira drum!

OK, please note the date of this review is 2024. It seems like the models of kanjira that Remo has made has changed. I don’t know anything about those other models but the one that I have here that I’ve just unboxed and messed around with for about an hour is a cool drum and I like it a lot. It arrived on time and flawless. This is my first kanjira. Out of the box, The tone of the drum seemed kinda high. So I took out the tuning key and lowered it and really liked the results of the lower sound. Drumhead became malleable, and I could bend the pitch.I know from drum set that Plastic drum heads take some time to break in. They want to go back to their original shape. I loosened all four of the screws, and the drumhead became slack. I could feel the space between the drum head and the hoop of the drum. I began to tune the drum to reduce that space, and I believe that I got a very good result of even tension on the drum head that way. So I’ll be experimenting overtime. It’s sensitive, and educational. One thing that is a little nitpicky, but is kind of a thing about the fit and finish of the drum- The tuning screws are a little difficult to find with the tuning key. Once again, there are only four of them and it will just take time to learn the nuances of the drum. Overall I’m happy with this purchase.
