Awesome Scope - Very Clear
Crystal Clear OPtics. Very easy to adjust for Bore Sight. Not too far off out of the box. Very easy to get a clean sight picture. I love it so far. I will update after a day at 200yrds if it doesn't function perfectly. As for now, I HIGHLY Recommend this scope. There's no Paralax, but I was aware of that and that was not neccessary for my needs. I traded that for the clairty of glass. I had a Barska and it took forever to get rid of the black fog around the reticle. This sights quickly and easily. NOTE - This is 1" Tube, NOT 30mm (1.25") Don't ask why I bring that up ;-)

Great scope for the money!
I did a lot of research before going with someone I had never heard of. What I found on various gun and hunting forums I'm on is that not a single person had one bad word to say about Vortex. I used a lot of Google-fu too and the thing that sticks out the most about my research was that I came across one forum post where a guy said he was a lifetime Leupold owner but after using the Diamondback he couldn't see EVER spending Leupold type money on a scope ever again. That was pretty much what sold me. My personal experience is limited to one range trip of about 3 hours but let me tell you. This thing is slick! It's THE NICEST scope I've ever owned in this price range. The glass is extremely clear, the variable power ring is easy to twist and the windage and elevation knobs are knurled and can easily be rotated without a coin or a flat head. The BDC reticle is fantastic and any picture you find online won't do it justice in real life. This is once company I'm glad I took a chance on. I got my hands on their Strike Fire recently too and it was a fantastic optic too. This is one company that I will definitely be revisiting when I need something else to put on top of another rifle. Update: This scope has seen action in the field and has helped me put meat in the freezer. It was nice to get out in a real world setting and off the range to see what it was capable of....I wasn't disappointed. She currently is seated in a LaRue mount(Which I highly suggest). I tried cheaper mounts that did "ok" but the LaRue really helped me settle in and tighted up my groups by at least half an inch at 100yds. Also, this is being usin on a AR in 6.8SPC with ZERO problems.

Very Good Scope!!
This is my 4th product from Vortex(3 scopes and a monocular) and I really am impressed with this company. This scope is a amazing scope for the money and its actually smaller for a 4-12x40. Compared to a Nikon prostaff its a little more than 2 inches shorter. I was hesitant to put this on my AR-15 with a 16 inch barrel but it really does look good on my gun and with an American Defense mount I can take it off in about 5 seconds and put on my Vortex Spitfire 3x red dot scope that I use for close range shooting under 100 yds. This Diamondback scope is perfect for longer range shooting but isn't as bulky as alot of hunting scopes are. The dead hold BDC is hard to beat. I was looking at getting either a Nikon or Vortex but for the money and for the warranty I had to go with the Vortex, plus I like Votex's BDC reticle compared to Nikons. For the money this scope has just as good of glass and ccrystal clear viewing as a scope for $300 or more and I paid $147 for this one. So I definately recommend this scope.

A pretty great scope.
I put this on a rifle that I just had rebored to 35 Whelen that I will use as an elk and bear gun. I wanted a new, higher power scope to replace an old 3-9x40mm Redfield scope I had. The scope has very sharp, crisp optics and at full 12x power it is perfectly clear and sharp at the edges. This scope is very lightweight. I like the turret controls which are very easy to set and have positive clicks. There is also a way to reset the dials back to zero if desired. I think the Dead-Hold BDC reticle will be very helpful for elk hunting. I shot a total 21 shots of 35 Whelen ammo (200, 225, and 250 gr., all of which pack a pretty solid punch) with this scope during sight-in and just having some shooting fun. It held zero very well. This is a quality scope and is sold at a good price on Amazon. I have used Leupold scopes in the past and wanted to try this Vortex scope out, and IMHO, I think the optics quality is equivalent to the Leupold.

Great Scope; Almost Nails It.
This was a hard call, but I own the Diamondback AND Diamondback HP models, and I am comparing the two. That may not be the most fair comparison, but it's why I gave this 4 vice 5 stars--the HP model spoiled me. Look, if you can find this on sale between 150-170, then buy it. It's a great scope in it's own right--especially for a 4-12x40 scope (THIS model might benefit from the 50mm occular). Knobs are easy to turn, turrets adjust with strong audible clicks, good glass, and it holds its zero--not to mention the warranty (if it breaks in ANY way--you drop it out of a tree onto rocks, gets busted in an avalanche, wife beats you over the head with it until it snaps in half (the scope, not your head--they can't warranty your head)). It performs as well as any other scope in it's range. I would rather have this than a similar Burris, Bushnell Legend Ultra, or Leupold VX1--those are really this scope's competition. I'd rather have a Bushnell Elite or a VX-2, both of which have significantly less glare in the last few minutes of legal light. To be fair, the glass is crisp and clear with good contrast and it's at or near the top of its class. The Athlon Talos gives similar performance with better features and the same warranty. Hopefully that inspires Vortex to step up its game a bit. Give us Diamondback HP glass at or below the current price point and Vortex would stop losing market share. Vortex has grown complacent, in my opinion. The real issue I have with these vice the HP, like I mentioned, is the performance at very first or last light with the sun in front or behind you. It causes too much flare/glare for my taste and can be difficult to acquire your target (maybe it's my eyes going bad). If the choice between these two is a matter of $30-50, then it's a no brainer--get the souped up model. It's when that difference goes between 90-140 that I'd be hard pressed to justify that--but that's just me. EDIT TO ADD: Vortex apparently discontinued the HP models, feeding my image of them having grown complacent. They have also raised the price of the Diamondback without giving any commensurate rise in performance. At this price point, Vortex of competing against the new Leupold VX-Freedom line, which has VX2 glass at VX1 prices. Leupold has learned to innovate due to pressure from Vortex. Vortex will need to do the same. Until they do, I'll spend my money on better glass or better features. It's all about value for your dollar and Vortex is slipping behind the curve. I have almost all the guns I REALLY love already dressed up with nicer scopes. For those that I take to the range, or just aren't my "go to" guns I automatically grab when I head out, these do fine. For my kids guns? This is (when it's on sale) a hard one to beat to introduce your kids to the fact that the $35 scope is not the bargain you think. No one can tell you how to spend your money. If you NEED a 4-12x and you can't spend the extra, then get this. If this is cheaper than the 3-9x40mm DBack, yeah, I'd probably go with this one too. If I could have the HP instead of the regular, I'd do it. Your next jump up is to the Viper. However, at Viper prices, I have found many better bargains with superior optics. Bottom line: this is a solid scope with optics and features that make it better than some others in its class. Good glass, but you get a real step up with the HP if you can spring for it. At the end of the day, buy the best glass you can afford. I've never heard anyone I know complain about spending money on good glass. Poor glass? You bet. This is NOT, however, poor glass. It's in the class of scopes that TO ME, represent the minimum level of acceptable scope.

Quality Glass
Vortex always delivers. Specifically wanted one made in the Philippines and not the Chinese stuff.

Great scope, good price.
I got this to put on a new rifle chambered in 17hmr. It works as it should and stays clear at all the way from 4-12 with no distortion. the only thing I found that I didn't like was there is not much eye relief. I would not put this on anything bigger then a 243. I have not shot with it on yet but I update if I rember. Update: I took it out to the range and at first had poor results. I would get it zeroed in but then it would start throwing shots way off. I latter found out that my scope rings were lose and after I tightened them down it held zero just fine. I shot at 25 & 50 yards. At 25 yards it was tough to get the crosshairs and target in focus at high power (8x) but at 4x everything was clear. I'm excited to take this out to 100 yards to see what this rifle will do.

Attention ! Mauvaises indications sur l'annonce
Attention !

Why Spend More? This Scope is Fantastic.
I managed to grab this scope during a sale, and I am absolutely blown away by the value it offers. I mounted it on my Tikka T3x Lite, and it has proven to be a perfect match, delivering performance that far exceeds its price tag. The most impressive feature is the amazing clarity in low-light conditions. I was genuinely shocked at how bright and crisp the image is during dawn and dusk, which is critical for hunting. The glass is clear, and the light transmission is on par with scopes that cost significantly more (if you compare value-wise). Honestly, this scope is so good for the money that it makes it incredibly difficult to justify an upgrade. I keep thinking about moving up to a higher-tier model, but the Diamondback performs so exceptionally well that I can't bring myself to replace it. The performance-per-dollar is simply off the charts. An easy 5-star recommendation.

This is about as good as you can get for the price
Wow! This is about as good as you can get for the price. The glass was crystal clear and it barely took any time at all to have it set up. Haven't gotten in zeroed in yet but in terms of construction and quality from it so far it's a 11 out of 10. Solid and study. The turrets have a softer click and a small tactile feedback when adjusting your zero. The magnification adjustment ring is a bit harder to turn but I would rather this than it being easy to accidentally move ( will probably be perfect once this scope is broken in). The focus is a bit difficult to turn but again, I find this very good to avoid accidental turning during use. The eye relief is very good, almost 4 at 4x and around 3.5 - 3.7 on 12x. The fast focus is a very very nice feature when hunting. I have used normal scopes and this one when trying to snap to a target and this would easily be able to get a shot of faster. The quality on this scope from vortex is second to none!! This is one of the very best of not the the very best scope you can get for this price range and I believe will rival the quality of scopes with a larger price tag.

Excellent Scope, I would make a mistake to buy another brand!
Back in 2018, I purchased this scope for my .338 Browning X-bolt, and I am extremely happy with the shooting results, as Vortex scope providing crisp and clear image for close and far targets. Hash marks bellow the cross hair accurately supporting the distance and was very helpful in my moose, mountain goat and white tail hunting. After 8 years , this cope is still holding zero, after who knows how many rounds. Still crystal clear, no changes in quality ans sharpness of thrview, Vortex stands for its name, Affordable price and fast shipping by Amazon! THANK YOU! Highly recomend to everyone with snaller or larger caliber!
