I installed a new lawn in a small backyard (about 2,500 sq. ft.) and knew I probably wouldn’t be disciplined enough to go outside and move a sprinkler several times a day. I needed something simple that could automate the watering schedule without a lot of setup, so I used two of these hose timers connected to the same spigot with a splitter. My approach was to run two sprinkler zones. Each timer controls a different sprinkler, and I staggered the schedules so when one finishes, the other starts. That way I can cover the entire lawn without going outside to move anything around. Setup was straightforward. The timers attach directly to the hose bib and programming them only took a few minutes. Once they were set, the watering schedule ran exactly as expected and the sprinklers activated on time without any issues. The build feels fairly lightweight, which is about what I expected for a product in this category. I can’t speak to long-term durability yet since they’ve only been running during the early watering phase while the grass establishes roots. They’re sitting in full sun and will probably take a bit of weather exposure, but so far they’ve worked reliably.
