GENUINE Dyson DC 14 Hose Assembly Part # 908474-37 Gray, dyson original seller

I've had this replacement hose on my Dyson for over 5 years so far and it works and fits perfectly. It was an easy and affordable way to get more life out of my machine which is currently 16-17 years old and still going strong.

Fits as original. Took a few weeks to settle in and works flawlessly now.

The top of my previous hose assembly cracked and I needed a replacement to salvage my Dyson. I took the chance after reading several reviews about the hose not fitting correctly. When new the hose is very tight and it's hard to push the aluminum extension wand into the bottom of the hose where it connects with the vacuum. I sprayed the wand lightly with WD-40 and then wiped away any excess, so dirt wouldn't catch in the hose and accumulate there. Once I did that I was able to work the wand down into the hose. I found that after I used the extension wand to clean with, I needed to repeat the WD-40 application. Eventually, I think it will loosen up with use.

This hose only lasted 7 months - original review follows, update comes after that. I was a little worried about ordering this replacement hose for my 18 year old DC14 after reading a number of reviews about problems people had with this hose. All I can say is it fits my Dyson perfectly. I can only imagine that these other people may have actually ordered a less expensive non-OEM hose, or ordered the wrong part for their vacuum. Someone said the new hose was too stiff; you'll get that with a brand new part like this. After a few weeks or months of use the inside of the hose will become dusty and the plastic won't stick together after being compressed, then all that stiffness will be gone. Anyway, I can't yet say anything about the durability of this new hose. I'll make a note to myself - if I'm still functioning in 18 years, and my DC14 is still functioning, I'll update this review and let you know. Update - This hose only lasted 7 months before it failed in the same way that the original hose took 18 years to do. I vacuum every day because we have a dog which sheds copious amounts of hair, and I use the wand at least once or twice every time I vacuum. With this hose I've always tried to hold the hose at the wand in a way which relieves strain on the hose, and it still failed in a ridiculously short amount of time. The terrible thing is that I might have to buy another one of these, because I still need to vacuum!

I rarely leave reviews, but thought it was important for older Dyson owners. My 2005 vac recently got a split in the extender hose. It took me 4 months, plus a lot of duct tape to buy this one for $40. After a lot of research I figured out that newer Dyson vacs have a smaller circumference than the ones 10 yrs ago. That said and not willing to purchase a new vac, I ordered this replacement. Like other reviews have said, the top end of the hose fits well. The bottom end I have to step on with my foot to keep it from dislodging. For me, bottom line is I cannot afford another high end vac. A decent engineer could probably figure out how to attach the new hose to the old nossle. I am just going to deal with stepping on the end when I need to vacuum my stairs, otherwise it is a non issue. For the record, I hate how all recent technology goes obsolete. :)

This was a replacement part for a older wore out hose and it fit perfect, not air Leaks and installed in less than minute.
