From the Publisher Review: STUNNING PHOTOGRAPHS FROM PHOTOGRAPHERS WORLDWIDE - I have never thought about how the smartphone and its brilliant small camera is actually an instrument of democracy! The images that Jo Bradford has spent years curating from smartphone photographers worldwide, show us the lives of people in farflung locations as they see and live them. I have never seen a collection of photographs that do this before; it's the opposite of the images we usually see, mostly from white male professional photographers, of the 'exotic'. The photographs are brilliant, beguiling and accompanied by short biographies of the photographer. The photographs by women are especially fascinating as they are often taken in environments where a woman wielding a big obvious camera would not be accepted. I found this book incredibly moving and important; it is a testament to a shared humanity. Could not recommend it more highly. Review: Inspirational freedom of smartphone photography. - This inspirational book shows the incredible ability of photographers to utilise the stunning capability of smartphones to visually represent our lives. Freedom of expression, spirit and human endeavour are encapsulated in each of the narratives. Wow!

I got lost in this book
As someone who is a) interested (nosey) in people and b) loves a good photograph, I couldn't love this book more. The different photos are beautiful, funny, honest, moving, challenging or any combination of those things and this is only heightened by reading the stories alongside them. I feel like I have travelled the world from my home and learnt about places I never really ever thought about. All hail the smartphone!
