Hope for an Aching Heart: Uplifting Devotions for Widows

and addressed the many sad stages of grief
This is a book that I wish I didn't have the need to read. But - as having lost my beloved husband in July 2016, this book was comforting, and addressed the many sad stages of grief, while acknowledging the fact that our lives are forever changed. We did not ask for this journey, and this book helps to acknowledge that fact. It also adds Scripture passages that help soothe the soul. As a Christian, I find the book is filled with hope and comfort - to a point - while dealing with the devastating and sad reality that a recent widow finds herself in. This book cannot in itself, nor can anything else, really take the pain away - the grief process must be worked through, and it is the hardest thing any human being can experience. Sooner or later - the harsh truth is that if you are married - one of you will go first, and unfortunately, that is life. This book deals with that fact, but also acknowledges that God the Father, through Jesus Christ, is there to help the grieving soul as only He can.

A Welcome Book of Encouragement for Widows
I purchased Hope for the Aching Heart at my first writing conference for a friend of mine who had just lost her husband to cancer. I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Nyman and asked her to sign it for my friend. Her words were very encouraging. My friend found this book invaluable. Not only were the devotions raw and relatable to what my friend was experiencing, the scriptures encouraged her and ministered to her daily. She has read it over several times. My friend told me she looked for books for widows and found very few. She was so thankful to have this book to help guide her through her feelings.I have purchased this book for other widows who also found the words comforting and helpful; uplifting and encouraging.I just recently read the book myself and found that not only does it aide widows, but also can help those who have lost a spouse through divorce like I did. The loneliness is real and the road forward without a spouse by your side is difficult to navigate. I would recommend this book to any who have lost a loved one whether through death or divorce. It also makes a great gift for the grieving.

What a wonderful blessing! A real gem!
This book of simple devotions was so healing. I was so blessed by it and found her experiences so relatable. I lost my spouse and young son and found her words so inspiring, that God can handle this and can comfort me. She speaks of having regrets, loneliness, helplessness...things we who have lost our soul mate can relate to.

A New Widow Broken Hearted
Having lost my husband last year to Covid, this book was recommended to me by another widow who is a dear friend of mine. She too lost her husband this last year. Although I am grieving, this book has given me comfort at inspiration. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has lost a loved one.

A book for grieving widow or widower
After my husband died, a good friend sent this book to me. It ministered to me in a mighty way. I recently sent a copy to a friend who lost her husband suddenly and she too is gaining strength from it. I highly recommend this book to any widow or widower who seeks strength and peace from Almighty God.

Best book I have read for Widows
I read this book a couple of months after my husband passed away. Out of six books I read after losing my husband this by far was the best. It's a devotional but I sat down and read the whole thing. Most of her stories were exactly what I was experiencing or was feeling at that moment. I cried through a lot of the stories but felt like what I was going through are all the same emotions that all widows go through. It is something you can apply to your life no matter what you loss is. There was always words of encouragement in her devotionals. She also has a website that I know go onto everyday. She does a daily devotional that still touches my heart when I read them. I highly recommend this book. It is comforting to read it.
