You slide down the thumb release and it opens fine, but closing takes a little bit of lining ...
We bought this cage for our daughter's rabbit. This was our first rabbit and I read that you don't want a cage smaller than 4'x2'. We saw the cage locally, but it was >$100. When we bought from Amazon, it was $77.99.Negatives:Assembly took a little bit of staring at the picture on the box to figure things out and the casters were very hard to install (took a lot of force). The front cage doors are a little finicky. You slide down the thumb release and it opens fine, but closing takes a little bit of lining up to get it to lock again.Positives:Great value. Nothing else came close for $78Nice and big for animals that need the room (4'x2')My daughter loves the blue colorThe two top doors make it easy to add hay/food and clean without letting the animal out.The two shelves are nice to give the animal more room. We put in only one shelf. The plastic makes it easy to clean ("stuff" doesn't stick). We use a Dustbuster like portable vacuum for easy removal of rabbit droppings. If the cage is on the floor, you can open the doors and they act like steep ramps so your animals can come and go as they please (if you are letting them stretch their legs, but you want them to have access to food/water).Despite the few negatives, I am still giving a five start rating because the value is through the roof.My daughter's rabbit is a Holland Lop (dwarf rabbit) and is one pound right now and should get to 3 - 4lb. The plastic shelves my be a little thin for a much heavier rabbit/animal.

G-normous!
I buy so much stuff that I don't usually write reviews. However, this is the biggest rabbit cage I've ever seen for use indoors. One thing mine don't much like is the ramps---even though I've attached carpeting material to them so their feet don't slip they still prefer to jump in. But it went together pretty easily and is big enough for all three of my house rabbits. I hardly ever keep them locked in cages; they are free to go in and out of their cages into a play area. I don't use bedding for mine; just newspaper and litter boxes with hay. Has anybody else used bedding? And if so, what was your experience with it? The sides are pretty high, so it looks like it's made to put bedding into it, and I'm thinking about putting some in so mine can get the experience of digging.

I like the cage a lot now that I have it ...
I like the cage a lot now that I have it set up. I got it to get my guinea pig Ringo a friend. Now Ringo and George happily live in this spacious cage. The huge issue is it was HORRIBLE to set up. The pieces didn't fit together at all. It was a very big struggle. The top is pretty flimsy too. The cage is also a pain to clean so I recommend fleece bedding. (which ironically I don't have any yet) I have ordered a nice fleece to use instead of bedding because the cage gets really hard to clean. Altogether this cage is very large my guinea pigs really like it!

Nice size for the price!
For the price of this cage, the size is great. It's a bit bigger than I had envisioned. It's pretty solidly made and was relatively easy to put together. Only slight drawbacks are that the shelves and the ramps are a little flimsy... a heavy rabbit would make them bend. And they need to add a snap to the sides of the bottom pan where it fits together, the bottom snaps in tight but the sides are iffy. Probably a better cage for guinea pigs, or at least very small buns like my netherland dwarfs. I added carpet pieces to the bottom and the shelves so they were more comfortable on bunny feet and less slippery. I am not using the food cup that came with it except maybe for treats.

Uncleanable.
Not simple to put together, but not ridiculously tough once you figure it out. The instructions could be more helpful, but are oversimplified. Our two guinea pigs are quite happy in this cage. It provides plenty of space for added furnishings and the sides are high enough that the shavings (mostly) stay in the cage. But we are not so happy. The divide in the middle, combined with the location and style of the doors and shelves makes for a miserable time cleaning this cage. It does not easily come apart, so that's not an option. There is no way to get all of the shavings out. And putting clean shavings in is ridiculously difficult. Also, the ramps are of poor quality.

WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!
I LOVE this cage. Most importantly, my furry lil baby loves it. It’s not exactly the easiest to clean considering you have to take off the entire metal frame, but it’s great. And I really like the locking feature on the two doors. And the extra locks on the top doors!! My rabbit is an escape artist and hasn’t figured out how to get out of this one yet!

Please don't purchase this product.
This is a terrible product. It was so difficult to put together, flimsy in quality, and way too expensive for what you get. Believe the other reviews that talk about how hard it is to put together. My husband built our home and he found it very problematic, so trust the reviews. It might be okay for guinea pigs, which is who we bought it for, but it would not work for rabbits. It's super flimsy. The seam is not leak proof, which means that if your small animal urinates anywhere near the seam, it will leak through to the surface below, unless you mitigate things. We taped the seam with packing tape. The doors are awkward and make it very hard to clean the cage, or reach in to fetch an animal. This is one of the most shoddy products I've ever purchased off Amazon and I am a Prime member who has purchased a large quantity of items over the years. Please don't buy it.

Great Cage!
love it! It's a very very large cage,I have one currently for my 2 guinea pigs. they love it too. plenty of room. one down fall for me is it can be a little difficult to clean out Just bc of how big it is, but it not really a big deal, having a great big cage for my pets make it worth it. will be getting a second one for my rabbit.

Lovely cage on the wheels
Very good cage for my 3 yo big heavy selfish rabbit :). Many places to hide and move. Shelfs could have extra support tho, moving under his heavy weight. Still love the cage. Give 5 stars.

Tough to put together, not sturdy, but ample space
The cage was a bit tough to put together (the bottom two pieces that make up the floor).I find that the cage bar wires are not sturdy and can be bent if you apply enough pressure. The two upper level pieces do not click fully onto the cage wires and are therefore not fully stable. The two upper levels also latch onto the side doors making it impossible for you to open the cage from the side unless you remove the upper levels. The design layout is poor but I’m rating this 3 stars for the amount of space it provides for my guinea pig.I found that my guinea pig was a little confused with both upper levels so I’m only using one. This also allows me access from the side of the cage for one of the opening areas. (There are two openings on the side).

Three Stars
Platforms needs more reinforcement, they bend under the weight of the rabbit. Other than that everything is ok....
