I really enjoy my Telesin Magnetic Master Grip Kit for my iPhone 17 Pro Max. It easily attaches magnetically to my existing protective case, and makes it much easier to hold when taking photos or videos. The grip has a place to put your thumb when holding the camera with the grip on, which also help align the grip to your phone. The handle appears to need the supplied adapter case, but I did not plan to use it any way. The controls feel firm and do not feel cheap. All in all the grip is very well made. You use the free ReefColor app to setup some of the grip functions. You are supposed to be able to update the grip firmware via the app but I have not yet had to do that. The grip comes with a tiny user manual that is written in several languages. That is fine, but it is so small as to be almost impossible to read. The website user manual is a web page, and one of the essential instructions (how to turn the grip on) is found later down the web page though the setup instructions earlier on the page assume you know how to turn the grip on and off. It took some searching to find this key piece of information. I wish the user manual that comes in the grip packaging which is well written was available online to download and keep for reference. That would make it possible to refer to those instructions when not on your laptop. It would also make it easier to study the grip's functions. As with any new piece of hardware it has a small learning curve but once you get use to what you see on your iPhone screen and where settings are (the ReefColor app has its own settings on your screen), the easier it becomes to use. I am definitely looking forward to using this, especially for video.

On October 6, 2025, after using the grip for some time and contacting the vendor who demonstrated how to update the firmware, I’m updating this review to include new insights I’ve gained about the grip. I purchased the grip for my brand-new iPhone 17 Pro Max, which hasn’t arrived yet. However, I’ve been using it with my iPhone 15 Pro Max without the cover that came with the grip. The grip is well-constructed, made of lightweight aluminum, and feels sturdy in my hands. Follow the instructions for pairing and ensure that Zoom is enabled in the iOS accessibility menu. The box also includes a screen protector, which was a pleasant surprise. I haven’t used the case yet, but its lightweight aluminum construction fits very well with the grip. The grip worked seamlessly with my existing MagSafe case. The buttons function well with the iOS Camera app, but when it comes to using them with Blackmagic or Final Cut Camera apps, only the record button, which is the most crucial one, works. Telesin has indicated that a future firmware update may enhance its functionality. To update the firmware, download the free “ReefColor” app by Telesin and ensure that the grip is connected to your device. The system will automatically detect if an upgrade is needed and prompt you to proceed. The ReefColor app is a simple camera app that offers several features, including the ability to re-map the Grip buttons’ functionality. However, its most important feature is the ability to update the firmware if necessary. The Grip’s battery is designed to provide a small battery boost during recording, but it’s not a reliable power source for extended video sessions. For instance, it charged my iPhone 15 Pro Max from 30% to 60% while the phone was off before it completely drained. As per the iPhone battery settings, the battery starts charging in fast mode and then switches to slow mode. For long video sessions, I connect external power directly to the phone using a right-angle charging cable that keeps the cable out of the way when in landscape mode. When I receive my iPhone 17 Pro Max, I’ll be able to record lossless landscape or portrait mode regardless of how I physically hold the phone since it has a square sensor. If you’re looking for a sturdy and well-built grip, this is definitely recommended. I use it to shoot photos and videos for short, occasional sessions. However, when I need to record a long video session, I usually screw it to a tripod and connect an external power source directly to the phone, and I’m all set. The magnets are very strong, and I feel comfortable not dropping the phone, whether I’m holding it or on a tripod.

From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the quality of the materials and thoughtful design. I saw a video on this grip and thought it would be pretty cool so I bought it for my iPhone 17 Pro Max. My wife and I had an upcoming trip to watch the sandhill crane migration and also some bird spotting afterwards. I thought it would be a great addition to my phone. I did not use the included case because I thought it was way too flimsy. Thankfully it attached just fine to the case that I did buy. Unfortunately the only feature that works on the version that I received is the shutter release button. That means I can take pics. It fall short on all of the other features that were shown on the video that I watched. It cannot zoom. You cannot change any of the features using the FN key. It cannot auto focus, which is generally not a problem with iPhone. However, it does not work. I have been in touch with their Tech Support, who although have sent recommendations on the zoom it is not nearly enough. I did download the ReefColor app, which did not indicate any firm ware updates are needed. I did see another review on here which discussed firmware and that they will be doing future updates. I’m going to return this product because I’m very disappointed after having such high hopes.

Very impressive right out of the box. EZ bluetooth connect - great camera integration. I got the silver iPhone 17pro and this is a killer match up for it. Case is a perfect fit. Magnet to the phone is super solid. Zoom is smooth. Attach the lanyard to the grip and makes one-handed shooting a breeze. i would have no issues dangling from the side of boat or the Grand Canyon. No more fumbling Feels a lot like a small Leica & looks very cool too. Or use it as a separate remote trigger. Doubles as a battery charger. The ND filter fits perfectly. The selfie light is a nice plus with different degrees of tone & brightness. The price is very fair imo. ONLY issues are integration with Blackmagic camera is capture only at this time. AND i wish the Fn, Roller & Zoom buttons could be more customizable (i.e. Blackmagic rack focus/zoom etc.) - but as is, it covers what you need and then some for pix on the go.

I’m using this with an iPhone 17 Pro Max. When it works, I really like the grip itself. It feels good in the hand and has a solid, well-designed feel. That said, my experience started a bit rough. Amazon shipped what appears to be a used Pro Grip. There were fingerprints and smudges on the grip, and all the packaging had already been opened. I decided to overlook that and move forward with setup. After setting it up, I noticed an issue where the phone randomly switches from photo mode to video mode on its own when I’m trying to take pictures. This happens without me pressing anything, which makes it frustrating to use for quick shots. I want to give this product five stars because I really like the concept and the grip when it’s working properly. I’m going to continue using it and may update this review after more time with it, but for now these issues are worth noting.

Wow! This camera grip is one of the best accessories I’ve ever purchased for my iPhone. I’ve recently upgraded to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Due to the photo capabilities, I wanted to get a grip that the phone deserved. This Telesin grip is it. I thought I’d be confined to a 3rd party camera app to enjoy the more that just the shutter button. But that’s not the case. I can launch and control the Apple native camera app, adjusting zoom, and changing camera modes. Very handy. The grip also has a built-in battery to recharge my iPhone via MagSafe if I find my power getting low. Oh, and speaking of MagSafe, the magnetic strength of how the grip grabs the iPhone is impressive. This was a particular feature I was looking for because I didn’t want that cumbersome clamp-on style accessory. To kick my Telesin grip up another notch, I added the light. It MagSafe snaps onto the grip. With that add-on, you can adjust the light brightness and color temperature. I recently used my new Telesin camera grip rig on a trip to Germany, where I was asked several times what it was and where I got it. Next week I’m off on a cruise and I expect I’ll be asked similar questions again. I absolutely love how helpful this product is for taking more stable and professional photos.

Wirkt alles sehr wertig und funktioniert gut. Lösungen zum Beispiel von Xiaomi oder anderen Firmen sind deutlich teurer. Super finde ich auch den Objektivschutz, der gleichzeitig eine UV-Filterbeschichtung hat. Das LED-Licht ist eine willkommene Zugabe, das ebenfalls sehr gut funktioniert (drei Farbstimmungen, stufenlose Helligkeitsregelung, um 180° drehbar mit Spiegel). Das Ganze wird natürlich etwas voluminös, aber das weiß man ja vorher. Irgendwie gefällt mir auch das Design, dass so einen gewissen positiven Retro-Aspekt hat. Die Funktionen sind alltagstauglich, und das Pairing ist auch unproblematisch. Das Case lässt sich auch ohne Griff verwenden. Es bietet auch die Befestigungsmöglichkeiten einer Schlaufe. (liegt aber nur eine bei, die ich für den Griff verwendet habe,).
