In an effort to resurrect my old Dyson DC15 ball vacuum, I ordered this replacement HEPA filter as I can't clean it like I can the other filter in the vacuum. The outside of the filter looks near identical to the original, but I noticed it seemed a little lighter, so I weighed it. It comes in at about 34 grams lighter than the original one, but I am sure some of that is accumulated particles over the years of use.So far no real complaints and it appears to have helped with the suction on my DC15 ball vacuum. Hopefully this lasts me as many years as the original one did.

I have a DC15 that is still running great. This part was on back order for months from other sellers. I was thrilled to be able to get this one in just a few days! It installed easily after I dropped the hose back like one helpful review suggested. I did notice that the dust bin is much harder to remove now as one reviewer noted. I found if I push down evenly on the dust bin before trying to angle it out for removal it comes out easier.The suction is excellent and I can see from the junk in the dust bin that it is picking up much finer particles than before. Finally, the best part...no more odor! Before the vacuum smelled like a wet dog no matter which part I cleaned. It only took me 15 years to find out that this "lifetime" filter should be replaced too. I will be buying one every 6 months now.

Never vacuum up dog vomit with your Dyson - wet or dry. I made the mistake of vacuuming up the spot where my dog vomited, that I apparently had not cleaned all the way but was dry. Every time I ran my vacuum, it then smelled like vomit.I cleaned the whole danged vacuum out. It still stunk. Then I found there was this filter hidden away near the motor, which is what I though the filter was a part of.It's a b!tch to get the old filter out, but easy enough to put the new one in.It's supposed to be a lifetime filter, which I guess you don't need to change. But after dog vomit, yeah, you gotta change this filter, too.So, yay! No more vomit smell!
