Question 1

Why is the nrr so low? other ear plugs have the maximum of 33 nrr but this only has 22 nrr.

Accepted Answer

Thank you for your interest in our products and I'm happy to help. Moldable silicone earplugs, like these, simply mold to your outer ear canals (instead of going down into the ear canal), providing a very comfortable, custom fit. Conversely, foam style earplugs are inserted down into the ear canal, often resulting in a higher noise reduction rating. However, many users report that moldable silicone earplugs work as good or better (in their experiences) than other style earplugs that may have higher noise reduction ratings. If you’d like try foam earplugs, our Mack’s Maximum Protection Soft Foam Earplugs provide 33 decibels of noise reduction (the highest noise reduction available). We realize that everyone has personal preferences when it comes to earplugs. We recommend trying several different styles of earplugs to find out which are ideal for you. Mack’s offers quite a wide variety of earplugs styles, colors and sizes, and we’re always here to help you choose one to best fit your needs. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us. Thanks!

Question 2

Are these compatible with swim caps?

Accepted Answer

Thanks for your interest in our products. These earplugs fit flush over the ear canal, so they are great for use under swim caps as well as with our Mack's Ear Band Swimming Headbands. They're also the Official Earplugs of USA Swimming® so they are used under swim caps often and commonly. If we can help further, please contact us at info@macksearplugs.com. Thanks!

Question 3

$12?! this used to be $3.99 on amazon. inflation isn't that high. why is this priced so high??

Accepted Answer

We appreciate your inquiry and I’m happy to help. The price you’re referring to was for a smaller quantity and was offered directly from Amazon.com, as opposed to a third party seller. Aside from that, to bring a product to market, there are many costs, including research and development, certifications, testing, raw materials, tooling, machinery, labor, packaging, shipping, and advertising, warehousing, operating fees, Amazon storage and sales fees, lost, returned and damaged product fees, etc. As of this morning, it costs an average of $4.00 in shipping alone to mail one of these items to a customer’s home. The retail price may fluctuate based on all of these factors. The price may also vary depending on who the seller is, the quantity purchased, whether or not you have Amazon Prime and if shipping fees apply. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us directly. Thanks!
