Does is come with two as pictured or just one?

Hello, it is just one, the picture is showing two sides as Vacant and Occupied. So sorry for the confusion.

Does this item slide easily and quietly? I am looking to use it in a classroom that has a bathroom in it; I want something with minimal noise.

It does slide quite easily, but not loosely. Also we added our own label to it for our use: alarm on/ alarm off. Because it is not loose it stays in place. It is not noisy.

Can you take out the vaccant and occupied and put in your own signs?

It’s not designed to easily remove the signs. But with a flat tip screwdriver, it can certainly be dissassembled and reassembled with custom inserts.
