HTC Instrument Yx-360 Tre-B Analog Multimeter with Mirror Scale /Diode /Transistor /Hfe

Looking to replace an older analog multimeter which had seen better days after over a decade of good service, I read the reviews on one or two other analog multimeters on Amazon, India. One multimeter caught my eye - the HTC Yx-360. Based on the good reviews, I ordered the multimeter. For me the HTC Yx-360 has CAT II probes; good for household appliances, portable tools, and other equipment. Perfect for my requirements - granted it’s not a super expensive multimeter, but will do the job. Ordered the instrument, and Cloudtail India, Pvt Ltd packed and delivered the instrument on time.The box containing the multimeter was sealed shrink-wrapped by the manufacturer, M/S HTC Instruments, with no signs of tampering. Except for a slight puncture on the box containing the multimeter, but no physical damage to the instrument. Opening the box, the multimeter was wrapped in a transparent plastic bag. Considering, the multimeter’s quite large at first sight. It’s solid, heavy, and felt durable - built like a tank.Inside the box, there there were a pair of black and red test lead probes. Two 1.5V AA batteries, and 1 x 9V. However, trying to locate the battery compartment took a while, until I realized the multimeter was housed in its removable black protective cover, this should have been mentioned on the Amazon, India website. The instruction leaflet made no mention of it either, nor gave any directions on inserting the batteries – should have been printed in the instruction leaflet. The black protective cover has a back-stand, and two slots on the back to insert and rest the probes.After little over a week now, the HTC Yx-360 performance so far can be described as splendid!Pros: Excellent analog multimeter for the price.Cons: None.

I have multiple analog digital meters/multimeters and compared the accuracy of this one with the others and I am impressed with the level of accuracy. I would not say this is the "best" as there are other Japanese brands that have better ones and of course more expensive, but this one is really worth buying. Also, analog multimeters are just fun to use and I will always used them.

Some reviews talk about the difficulty to figure out how to install the batteries.This, even though not shown in the instruction booklet, is logically simple: The rubber case can be pried off easily, there is a single bolt on the back which should be unscrewed and then the batteries [supplied with the product] installed, the back cover put back on and the bolt tightened to secure the cover on. That's it!The instrument works perfectly well for what it is meant for. All very nice [especially because it is an analog one and has a good feel to it]. The rubber case also has captive slots for the two probes. Nice feature.

I've been using this multimeter for last few days. I'm strictly habituated in using Analog multimeters. My findings after using this one-Pros:1. Acceptable accurracy.2.Very fast response in every scale3. Looks premium4. Clear display and digits printed on the scale.5. Built by through hole resistors (not smd) and you can replace any faulty resistor if needed.6. The pointer is very stable7. Fuse protection with an extra fuse inside for future use.Cons:1. The probes are small in length ( you can change it)2. Personally I don't like the buzzer at x1 scale. It is obviously a subjective choice.3. You have to adjust "zero ohm" in each scale which is rather irritating. This is not the sign of a good multimeter.4. It doesn't have x100k scale. So you can't measure higher value resistors.5. You can measure upto 250 DC mA. No 10A range.Final verdict: After considering the price point, it is a "must buy".Thanks Amazon for hosting a good product.
