Any light source will power the center ring to gently strike the bells inside. No batteries. There is no breeze. Without eleectricity. never. How do they work? Very simply, all of our items are "light activated". Strong direct sunlight through a window will cause an active chime and spin. Less light slows them down. Even low night light will cause occasional activity. With that in mind, your game can be modified by turning the solar cell away from, or towards, the light source. Any kind of light will do. If light is dim or no strong outdoor light is available, we suggest displaying under a table lamp with any type of light equivalent to a 100-watt incandescent bulb. Years ago, I had a different style of table top chimes (years ago) I suspect may have been made by this company. I so loved them and after someone accidentally broke them, I went searching.I bought a table top of this style and love it. If it gets quiet, just wipe the dust off the solar panel - not a problem!The Window Sprite Chimes are the first non-table top I have purchased. Hung them this morning. One of the chimes didn’t have the clear fishing line used to hang it. I used a piece of white thread from my sewing box - an easy fix.One think I noticed - if you hang them above eye level, you don’t see the beautiful color on the top, rather the view is of the white underside with black parts. I recommend painting both top and bottom before the company assembles which would serve to kind of hide the workings. That’s the only thing I would change. The music they provide is divine!I just love them which is why I have 2 at home & one at work. My father has 3!Please keep making these and consider bringing back the old designs - which didn’t have the black wrought iron. My previous one had had a champagne color flat metal arm and a base that matched the coloring of the top - a sand-beige rough textured paint. I wish I had a picture as it was my favorite. Heartbreaking to have to through it away. I should have kept it but didn’t know who made it - there was no brand anywhere on it.

great lil product
would have given it a 5 star if they would have shipped it in a box instead of a bag. Arrived a bit bent but it is cute and still works. Would love to have the other color besides blue and green

Joyful noise!!
Received these chimes as a gift and I absolutely love them. I have them hanging in a south window. Depending upon how sunny it is outside, they go from a light "ting" to a full swing chime. Would definitely recommend them to others.
