I have only received the handle, but there is no base,

Cast iron cost around Rs 50 per Kg. This press weighs 1.4 Kg and costs how much?? You do the math. Get yourself a small cast iron pan with handles for a 5th of the price.

The clamp handle is not made of stainless steel. It is plain iron painted black :-(

This has substantial weight so it works well. I love the cast iron plate. It is great to clean. I get flat evenly browned bacon.

Great quality if you’re looking for heavy weight..

I like the product but it’s not super necessary, as you can achieve the same results (smashing etc..) with a metallic spatula. But you can use this on bacon which frankly I don’t. One thing that I’m not sure is a great idea are the steel screws that hold the handle onto the press, and which are deeper, will eventually get difficult to clean.
