Solid, substantial chairs
These look good, are well made, and easy to assemble. I put cushions on them to make them more comfortable as dining chairs. But even without the cushions, they were well contoured.

Very high quality. Complaints of cracked seats are due customer assembly error!
These chairs are extremely well made. The quality of the work is impressive. They went together very easy but there is one area you MUST do correctly or your seat will crack. I see lots of complaints on Amazon about cracked seats and I think it is due to this error people are making during assembly. You must make sure that the front legs are pulled DOWN so that the seat top sits flush against the cross support. If it doesn't you will be flexing the seat and it will crack along the grain in the middle, as seen in the photos others provided. You need that center support under the seat. Loosen the leg bolts and pull the legs down until gap is removed. If you already installed the seat, you need to remove the front two screws, push the seat down and then re-install them. SEE PHOTOS Anyone who has EVER installed furniture from IKEA will immediately see the difference between these high quality well engineered chairs made of real hardwood, and IKEA junk.

Pretty good chairs
These seem like they will be really sturdy. The color is lovely and I like the style. My husband was happy that the seats aren’t too narrow. They took a very long time to put together. The hardest part is getting the seat attached to the frame. There aren’t any pilot holes in the seat so you have to use the screw to make a hole, which can be challenging while trying to hold the seat on straight. I’m knocking off a star because it’s nearly impossible to get these chairs legs level. It says in the instructions not to tighten the bolts until the whole thing is put together so you can make sure it’s level. This is impossible. The chair will fall apart if you do this. Plus there are no instructions on how to level the legs. I’m just going to have to use some felt on the feet to do this. I followed the instructions of one reviewer to make sure the legs are level to the sear to make sure the seat didn’t split. This was great advice. Overall, I’m happy with the chairs. I especially love that they aren’t upholstered. We will see how the hold up.

I love international concepts!
I debated on purchasing these chairs for a few weeks. I have purchased other unfinished pieces from International Concepts and I've never been disappointed. I decided to order these based on the price and the ability to customize them. I felt the assembly was rather easy (just a bit tedious). The quality of the wood is great for staining or painting, and the construction is nice and sturdy. You do have to fiddle with them a bit to ensure they aren't tippy. I suggest putting the base and the legs together, but leave the screws for the legs a bit loose. Then place the chair on a level surface and move the legs just slightly up or down until the chair sits level. Once its level, tighten the screws, then attach the seat. My chairs came out perfectly.

Great
I bought 6 of these to replace upholstered chairs that were a terrible decision for a home with two dogs and a cat. Yuck. The color is a warm, green based gray. They almost look khaki so if you have all cool gray like my walls, I’d look carefully at the color. Luckily my table is a blend of tones so they match fine. The chairs are well made for the price. The directions are clear and all parts were well packaged and simple to sort. I put all 6 of these together with a power drill, a Phillips bit and the bit that is the same size as the included Allen wrench. Putting these together by hand is for sure possible but there are about 21 screws/bolts in each chair so I’d recommend a drill with the right bits to save a lot of time and wear on your wrist. They’re about as comfortable as a hard, straight backed chair can be. They look nice and solid and easy to clean which is what I wanted. Well worth putting together yourself to save what they cost at a mid price furniture store with delivery. All six took about 2 hours to unpack and finish for one 44yo lady who is moderately handy. You don’t need two people to do this as long as you have something like an end table to set the partially assembled chair upside down on while you attach the seat and legs. If these don’t wear well I will update this review but at the time of assembly with one use, I’m quite happy with these.

Looks like Pier1
These look exactly like my Pier1 Chairs. I needed a replacement for a broken chair and these worked great!

Seats cracked...
For the most part I was very impressed with the chairs. They are sturdy and handled both stain and paint well (painted the main frame of the chair and stained the seats). However, I made one mistake in that I didn't open up all of the parts and inspect them before I started assembling and painting. I bought 2 sets, so 4 total chairs, and opened one set completely to see how they assembled. I then proceeded to just pull the chain frame parts out of the second set and went ahead and assembled the chair frames for all 4 chairs. I then painted them before I pulled out the remaining 2 seats. Both of these seats were pretty badly cracked. I contacted Amazon and they offered to let me return the set of chairs with the cracked seats even though I had already painted the frames. The problem with this was at the time the X-back chair was no longer available on Amazon so they wouldn't be able to replace the chair with a matching X-back set. I really did appreciate Amazon's effort on this, it just wan't a viable solution for me. They did give me a small refund (I believe 10%) which was really the best they could do. I ended up mixing some saw dust from the chairs with wood glue to create a wood filler that would still accept stain. I was able to fill the cracks and after staining you can't tell which chairs had the cracks and which didn't. In the end the chairs ended up looking great, the process of getting them there was just a little more difficult because of the cracks that I had to fix.
