WACACO Pixapresso Espresso Machine Electric & Portable (Dark Burgundy)

This review is for "WACACO Pixapresso Espresso Machine Electric & Portable (Tuscan Red) | 4 Coffee Types, Fast Heat-up, 3 x 300". Although this coffee maker takes capsules, I only use it with the ground coffee as the brew tastes much better this way. It practically brews a barista-quality coffee. In addition, this is the only portable brewer I could find that has enough water capacity to brew "lungo" coffee size, which is about thrice the espresso. Another great feature is that its coffee compartment has an extra plastic spacer that can be taken out allowing to use twice as much coffee grounds to brew. I am using it with the smaller size because it would be too strong for me, but it can make a killer-strong coffee if so desired. The single charge is enough to make two lungo-sized coffees or several espressos. The machine is operated by a single button, through a combination of short and long presses, which takes some getting used to but is pretty straightforward. I memorized the sequence for my favorite setting and use that exclusively. This coffee brewer was a game changer for me, now I can have a perfect cup of coffee in the morning when I travel. It is compact enough and easy to charge via USB-C to take with me everywhere. I also bought a foldable aluminum stand for it, because I prefer to use a normal cup instead of the included plastic cup. The quality of this brewer is outstanding, it is solid, well made and durable - not to mention it looks good as well. I am extremely happy with this purchase, it was the money well spent, absolutely worth it.

Just got home from a 5 day fishing trip. We were extremely happy and satisfied with the espresso and the ease of use of our pixapresso. We were able to make many espressos with preheated water. It does use up a lot of battery power when using it to heat the water. But in a crunch, it can heat up water pretty quickly and efficiently. And make several drinks before needing recharged. The picture shows my whole setup. With the nespresso pod knockoffs, we were able to fill with our own coffee grounds and also very happy and satisfied with the results using those. We also used the ground coffee option, which was also just as enjoyable. The stand I am using for our Pixapresso was purchased separately and the sticker received with the pixapresso was used to put on the stand to customize it. All the accessories were purchased through Amazon as well. Being able to customize the filter to accommodate 16 g of coffee was primarily the reason behind purchasing this particular portable espresso maker. This is the only portable espresso maker I have used so unable to compare it to how others might perform. The charging cord provided is extremely short, but it is a USB -C, and we always have many of those types of cords laying around. There are 2 other color options available, but not on Amazon it seems. I would have preferred the Olive green, but it's not a huge issue. This is also very easy to maintain and keep clean.

I had such high hopes for this thing... I travel 2-3 weeks a month and loved the idea of being able to make an espresso each morning in my hotel room to start my day off. Unfortunately, that is not to be. Once the first unit arrived, I opened it and, after reading the manual, attempted to turn it on or check the battery level. A short push of the power button (which should have displayed the battery level) did nothing. No sounds, no lights, nothing. Okay, I figured, maybe the battery is completely dead. So I used the included USB-C cable to plug it into a charger head, and the thing started repeatedly beeping. I unplugged it, checked the manual, and ensured the charger head was 5V 3A, which it was. Plugged it back in and... more continuous beeping. Just in case the continuous beeping was normal for charging (that would be odd), I left it plugged in for about 30 minutes. The charging level never showed up on the display, and it just beep beep beeped away. So, I returned it to Amazon and requested a replacement unit. A couple days later it arrived, and.... SAME. EXACT. ISSUE. Okay, time to stop messing around... I look around for a support phone number to make sure I'm not doing something wrong. Turns out they don't have a support phone number. The only support they have is via email. So, I sent an email lamenting my experience with this device. The next day, I get an email back suggesting I leave it plugged in for 30 minutes and see if it charges, and reminding me to use a 5V 3A charger head. I replied saying I had done all that. The next day, I received an email suggesting I remove the battery and reinstall it and see if that fixes the issue. At this point, I was fed up with the experience, and I returned the second unit to Amazon for a refund. Bottom line: 2 non-functional units, customer service was practically non-existent. A horrible disappointment.

IT has been very difficult dealing with this device. I am on vacation and the pod continues to get stuck. I am now using my OutIn instead. I purchased my Pixapresso as a replacement for the OutIn since it is smaller and more compact. But having to unscrew it so hard has become such a hassle that my wrist is hurting. It also caused a burn on my hand since so much force is needed to remove the capsule holder. I really did love this product in the beginning with all its features but the basic function of holding a nespresso pod is flawed. The capsule holder screws into place and the two halves then slide among eachother so a notch fits into a groove. With this design any bit of friction between the two halves causes a poor seal and hot water simply flows around the pod instead of through it. Then the hard part, taking the capsule holder off. It becomes so stuck that its nearly impossible to remove unless you wish to hurt a thumb tendon. I contacted support not for a warranty replacement but rather to ask how I can purchase a new capsule holder. After ofcourse offering up all of my information no such replacement is for sale and I was instead given some silly solutions such as leave it to cool down for hours before attempting to unscrew (which I tried and it didn’t work). I am going back to my OutIn. There should be a way to purchase a new pod holder and since support has not been useful I will just stop using this portable espresso maker.

Amazing product I make espresso anywhere..lol At my desk at work etc. I use blonde espresso from Starbucks and this portable 20 bar espresso machine makes the most delish espresso. easy to use but it does take like 3 mins to heat up and dispense coffee so it is not going to make quick espresso shots like a regular machine at home would But it gets the job done and produces nice crema as well.

Been using this at sea level with freshly-ground beans and it has been great. I brought it with me to use while on vacation at altitude (9800 ft) with Nespresso pods and it would not brew. It could not build up enough pressure to dispense more than ~ 5 ml and then would quit. Also since water boils at lower temperature at altitude, it has trouble achieving the target temp even at the lowest setting. After arriving at home, I tested it again with a Nespresso pod and it worked perfectly. Just keep in mind if you're planning on using it at altitude, that it may not work as expected.

Makes decent shots. Used in many trips. Downside is its battery doesnt really last 3 shots, The first i bought went bad for some reason and good thing is i got a replacement.

Very good quality of espresso.. Temperature is perfect and can be user set. Easy to clean.. Would love to be able to take some form of charge from my cars battery.. but understand how thats not possible... Quality and well made . Definitely would buy again if needed

Me encanto solo tomen en cuenta que si quieren hacer por ejemplo un buen latte, consideren comprar el Batista kit. No soy fan del café sin leche por ende, creo que es fundamental, pero en realidad, me parece que extrae súper bien el café, solo considerar la molienda. La volvería a comprar sin duda.

Worked fine for about 1 week. Then it stopped being able to pierce the coffee capsules. Instead water flows around the capsule and leaks out past the supposed seal. Have tried all different capsule brands with same result. Last 10 capsules I tried, it successfully made a coffee with only 1.
