Kreg PRS3034 Insert Plate TL-Triton

I purchased the Triton 3 1/4 HP Router, this insert plate, and the Kreg PRS3040 insert plate levelers in making my own router table top. The pre-drilled holes align perfectly, and screws are provided. Plate is thick and good quality. Even with the Triton attached, I find no give in the plate. Have not used a Kreg product I didn't like...Note: If you are using a Kreg table top, this plate should fit. However, if you are making your own, as I did, the instructions with the plate provide a method for cutting out the plate. I decided to first make my own router template so as not to make any mistakes and waste expensive materials.Making the template: Trace the router plate onto 1/4" hardboard. Find 4 strait edges (I cut them from scraps) and align in a manner that outlines the plate on the hard board (use double sided tape to attach to hardboard). Next, use a 1.5 inch diameter spade bit or forstner bit and drill the 3/4 inch radius (half the diameter) curves in all four corners. Use a router and trim bit following the strait edgesto cut out the rest. Use the plate to check for fit before using the template. Since I was not using a rabeted edge (thanks to the Kreg levelers), routing through the table top following the template was especially easy.

I have been just slightly disappointed in the Kreg PRS3034 Insert Plate but disappointed nonetheless. The material is just a bit too "flexible" for me. If I had to do it over again, I would probably look for another option (MLCS or Woodpecker, etc.) Fit and finish was fine with the exception of an oil stain directly on the Kreg logo. I installed this plate on a router table that I built and laminated myself. I took a lot of time to build the table right and to have the insert be the weakest point is, as stated before, a disappointment. Spend the extra cash for a better option if you can.

I bought this to retrofit a Bosch 1181 router table for a Porter Cable 7515 Router. The holes are right but need to be drilled out to 5/16 and countersunk, the size needs to be trimmed by 1/8 inch on each side and 3/16 on each end but it easily done on a bench saw. You will need to drill the 7/32 holes (with a drill press) for the mounting screws using the Bosch plate as a template and countersink. It works great and level it using the existing leveling screws on the Bosch table. I gave it a 4 and not a 5 because the directions on the Kreg package did not match the plat.

I ordered the Kreg PRS3034 mainly because of the interchangeable Twist-Loc ring inserts, and because it was pre-drilled for a recently-purchased router.When the sealed insert plate arrived from Amazon, I opened it, and noticed that there were no 'hardware bags' included in the package. Screws and brass starter pin are clearly called out on the packaging material, but none were inside.I called Kreg customer service and explained my issue. The exchange with the company representative was simple:1) He apologized that this happened.2) He asked what insert plate model number I had purchased.3) He asked for my shipping address.4) He told me that the hardware would be mailed out today, and asked if there was anything else he could do for me.Two days later the hardware showed up in my mailbox! Now THAT is how to handle Customer Service!I get it that mistakes can happen in packaging. It shouldn't have, but it did. It is how the company handles those situations that can make all the difference. I salute the Customer Service organization from Kreg.As I had expected, the insert plate worked fine for my router table application. I have ordered the optional 5-piece Twist-Loc insert plate set to get all of the hole sizes.

I bought the Kreg PRS3034 as an insert to a Router table I was making. My decision for the purchase was made when I saw that it was specific to the router I had. I was looking for the simplest way to achieve my goal of building the table and getting on to building some drawers.Well, this plate insert was a total disappointment. I spent more money in unique tools required to achieve the fit of the plate than it would have cost to buy a unit with a template. I think, this "minor" detail (omission in my part), made a huge difference. the instructions even called for a tool, that as far as I could search does not exist. On page 3, step 5 it says: "Chuck a top-bearing bit with a 3/4" cutting length into your router...." I looked for that tool at all major hardware stores, here at Amazon, Rockler and Woodcraft and the internet, No one had it. Obviously, the person who wrote the manual never built the table the insert fits into.I went to Kreg's (the instruction said to watch the project video there) - It does not exist. I browsed through the site looking for the insert plate in every menu item, this plate does not exist in Kreg's website. What does that tell you about the product?Beware of phantom products.On the plus side, after a week of searching, talking to Kreg support and local shop experts, I was able to fit the plate and use it for my drawer build. I like the way my router fits in it, and the ease for adjusting the router elevation through the plate.

Easy to install, took a long time to get it ( 1 full month) but worth the wait.

I returned the item as it did not fit the router properly. I also returned the router as I did not know which was the problem. Sticking with my old router and set up until I find a router and plate that mesh.
