John Lennon and Yoko Ono Imagine & Gimme Some Truth [Blu-ray] [2018]

2 films from 1971 on one disc
The Imagine film is a historical look at John and Yoko in 1971, both in Ascot and New York, during the process of making the album of the same name and also Yoko's album of the same time, Fly. The soundtrack features tracks from both of these albums. The other film Gimme Some Truth is the recording process of the Imagine album and it is interesting to hear how tracks evolved over time until we end up with the version we know and love. Both of these movies will presumably not interest anyone who isn't a fan, particularly Imagine since it features both John and Yoko vocally. As a fan of John Lennon when he was alive and even more so now that he has gone, I wanted to watch it to see how his mind worked. I was well aware that John split the Beatles at the end of 1969 so Yoko and Macca didn't even have anything to do with my reasons for watching this film.I would have bought the blu-ray regardless and, since John is dead and Imagine is his second most powerful album, without the other Beatles, I just had to get the super deluxe edition of that as well. In my opinion his best solo album was Walls and Bridges, what with Steel and Glass and Surprise Sweet Bird of Paradox as well as Whatever gets you through the Night it has so many classic Lennon tracks and more than Imagine. I still can't believe it's almost 40 years since we lost him that fateful December 8, 1980.

Amazing restoration
The improvement evident over the previous VHS and DVD releases is immense. Sound and picture quality is superb. All those dots and scratches have been cleaned up and it looks like it could have been filmed yesterday. Well worth a purchase if you're a Lennon fan.

A must have for any John Lennon fan
I have the original Imagine DVD, he documentary based on the making of his album. However bought this as extra footage which I didn't have. A perfect addition to my collection

NOT IMAGINE
It's Imagine, the old documentary. It's some Yoko film. The other was just as plop.Big Lennon fan, can do without Yoko making it about her.

Arty farty nonsense
If I could rate less than one I would, it was rubbish, a load of arty farty nonsense, nice to see John lennon at work, and the banter but those days are long gone
