I'm reading a lot of reviews for home stereo. will this go into a sub box for a car?

It will go in, but not sound very good. It's made for both bass and mid-range, not just bass (it's a woofer, not a subwoofer). It is also made for lower wattage systems and higher ohm ratings. A strong subwoofer amp in a car audio set-up will blow these out fairly quickly.
