No it did not you put the ice in and the motor stops, bucket is to small and the ice cream does not freeze hard it's still soft very thin when the motor wants to stop. very cheap made I could have done much better for the money

Could use a "Fill Line" marker on the canister
The Sunbeam ice cream maker that I had before had a "Fill Line" indent in the caniste that you could read from inside or outside the can. This one has neither. Instead the directions say to fill no more than 2/3 full, which isn't that easy to eyeball when the container is being filled. Seems like a simple thing to add.

Yes, it will make ice cream...
This is an okay freezer. The plastic tub is not round but shaped like an oval garbage can. This affects the speed in which the ice cream freezes. So far, all our batches have frozen at the bottom of the mixing cylinder, which stops the churning. But this leaves the top of the batch unfrozen, more of a slurry consistancy. So some time in a chest freezer is needed to firm up the entire batch.Otherwise, the unit runs well and is quiet. The 4 quarts is a good size. Instruction booklet was unclear on the general process of making ice cream; hit the web and download better information and receipes.

Forget the wooden bucket!!
Excellent product!! Have owned the traditional wooden bucket version (both hand-crank and electric) and have to say that this is better!! There is no leakage, as there is with the wooden one and no metal rings to rust. The size is perfect for making ice cream for the family for several nights. The ice cream is nice and creamy and, as the directions say, perfect after a night of "hardening" in the freezer.

This product is very minimal for use. Ice jams and shuts the motor off.
Had to hold the motor down for it to work. Square design doesn't allow the ice to rotate around the inside of the machine. It shuts the motor off. Took 1 and a half hours to make the ice cream holding the top of the motor so it would not quit. Did not see that it is unreturnable or would not have bought it. Talked to a representative and he did not follow up. Do Not buy this product! Don't go cheap, spend the extra. Wish I had.

Bought as gift for my husband - used it last night - very easy to use , quiet and easy clean up . Great little machine !
