If it refuses to connect to wifi: here's what to do
Update: Baseus sent me a new camera to try at no charge. I was able to connect to the camera from an Android phone by turning it into a mobile hotspot. After the connection, the camera updated its firmware to resolve the connection issue. After that, I was able to connect the camera to my system alongside my other Baseus cameras and use my iPhone to control it. The support team really has been outstanding. In the few days since I reported this issue, they have contacted me at least a half-dozen times with possible fixes. They ARE trying. I am giving them five stars now for this effort AND because I have 7 other Baseus cameras (X1-Pro and S1 interior pan-and-tilt cameras) that are outstanding in every way (see my review of the X1-Pro here on Amazon). This S2 outdoor camera is equally excellent. If you can get someone to loan you an Android phone for less than 5 minutes, updating the firmware is very easy. Make sure the phone has cell service; this is critical*. Follow the steps below (settings may vary slightly across different phone brands): 1. Open Settings on your phone 2. Go to Network & Internet 3. Select Hotspot & tethering 4. Tap Wi-Fi hotspot โ Hotspot settings 5. Find AP Band โ select 2.4 GHz โ save and turn on the hotspot 6. Then try connecting the camera to this 2.4GHz Wi-Fi hotspot This will fix the issue! ORIGINAL REVIEW: We have four Baseus X1-Pros, no issues, great camera. But this S2 has problems connecting to some networks. Tried everything, got good tech support to a point: "We have identified that the current Wi-Fi connection issue with the S2 camera may be related to a compatibility problem with the Wi-Fi chip driver. To address this, a firmware installation is required, which can be completed by connecting the camera via a mobile hotspot.-Could you kindly check if you are able to borrow any Android device or a Windows laptop to create a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi hotspot? Once connected, you can proceed with installing the firmware on the S2 camera, which should help resolve the issue." We found a friend with an Android phone, but no go; still could not connect*! This is a problem buyers should be aware of. Some Nextwork hardware may work (obviously, many customers are fine), but some may not. Here is why. I'm going to send the camera back and get the newer X1-Pro, which works fine and is a superb product. Baseus support was very good and timely, but they need to ship cameras with a firmware that supports all networks (our is from Xfinity). I can highly recommend the Baseus X1- Pros. *The camera I first borrowed did not have cell service, so it didn't work as a hotspot despite showing it as one. When I borrowed another friend's Android phone that did have service, the hotspot worked, and I was able to update the firmware.

The worst WiFi range and playback
I give it one star then changed to 3 Now back to one for the simple fact of WiFi range and connectivity and playback. With the wireless access router in the same area as the camera and it fails to playback, takes minutes to open a clip, not all the time but enough for me to pull my hair out. On top of that it records an incident almost at the end. You get an alert, check the clip and the subject iqs out of the view and you watch empty scene. Iโm disappointed with this device. The sound quality is poor, and I couldnโt recognize my own voice when I recorded myself. Thereโs also an issue with the alert, as the image it displays is often inaccurate or fails to appear at all. The WiFi range is limited, and when viewing the screen live, the camera doesnโt record whatโs being watched. You have to press the record button manually. Additionally, when used as a spotlight, the camera wonโt record. Despite having a facial recognition option, the Terms of Service essentially authorize the app to use your data however they please. There are only two recording options: 4K or 720p, with no in-between options. The 4K recording takes a long time, and the 720p option is outdated. Furthermore, there are times when the camera fails to record even though itโs fully charged, and there are missing hours or calendar entries with no data.

Thanks Baseus - Happy with the Camera
Excellent camera. Purchased five with four in place now for a month. Easy setup with charging, firmware upgrade and immediate connection to wifi. Haven't had any issues with wifi with repeaters up to 20m from camera. A bit of flexibility required initially to position for best effect by day and by night to get the sweet spot for both while experimenting with the detection sensitivity and the 145 degree field of view. Solar charging has been excellent with battery retained at >95% on all cameras. When positioned correctly night vision is very good. Very few false alerts from PIR/radar. 4k resolution provides a very good picture and micro-sd card recording and playback has worked very well. I have found the baseus security app to be very good and with good options to notify, record, capture etc. Cameras have been up in strong winds and heavy rain and maintained performance including connectivity.

Well made product!
Really does a great job staying charged and was able to use our WiFi signal quite far from the house! It was subjected to a range of inclement weather and never disappointed. Gave us a nice insight into what was happening on the far side of our fence.

Wi-fi questionable, but otherwise great
This is my second review. At first, I was very frustrated because the camera wouldn't do anything before a firmware update, and the update repeatedly failed to complete. I think it was a wi-fi problem - theirs, not mine, and something other reviewers have noted. In any case, I moved it right next to my main router and the update completed. Maybe just coincidence if the problem was really their update server(s). In any case, everything has been fine since. Detection and picture quality have been great, the solar panel is sufficient to keep it charged, and it doesn't even seem to have had any trouble with connecting since that first day. Still knocking off a star because of that out-of-the-box experience, but otherwise excellent.

Not As Expected
Never get to use it. Never get it to connect to my router. Beware, this camera only works with 2.4 GHz Band. However, it was not clearly stated in the description. I spent two days trying to get it to connect to my router, but I was unable to. I contacted the support desk, but I did not get much help. No live person to talk to other than email. I bought many wireless cameras before and I never had any problem connecting it to my router. This one was a problem. I returned the product.

Cool camera, but does not work with H1 homestation
Editing review to add detail: It's a really great camera, with awesome features... But keep in mind this is a standalone camera. So if you don't have their previous H1 homestation kit, this is an awesome start to your own system. The features in this camera (radar, face recognition, etc) are things I'd expect from a unit an order of magnitude more expensive. Additionally, customer service is top-notch if you call the number. I had my questions answered by a real person in less than 5min, i don't even think i was put on hold. It's a standalone camera with local storage, but if you have the other system (h1 homestation, n1 and s1 pro cameras, etc) it will not be streaming footage to the homestation for recording. The other features seem great, but I don't want to have to buy a microsd card for this thing when the homestation could/should support it. The S1 pro camera is not sold as an add-on camera, so if i want another one i have to buy a whole kit with two cameras and the home station (which I already have)
