A solid and capable foundation for AI-enabled security at lower cost
I replaced four aging 1K cameras and a 1K doorbell along with their annual on-line cloud subscription from a well-known/popular brand with a Tapo H500 hub, four Tapo 4K outdoor cameras, two Tapo 2K indoor cameras, and two Tapo 2K doorbells. I purchased a SSD for the hub for local storage instead of subscribing to Tapo Care. Staying with and upgrading the same brand and activating their AI features would have cost me 3.5x more over five years. Tapo's hub was extremely easy to install and the entire configuration has worked flawlessly. I've been impressed with the built-in AI features. I made it through the learning curve of the feature-rich Tapo app without too much problem and now that it is second-nature, I actually prefer it over the solution I replaced (as good as it was). The hub also connects with two Kasa (a sister brand from TP-Link) wall switches and an indoor/outdoor power outlet that I had previously purchased for my garage and patio. My hub easily handles the 8 cameras, two of which are taking snapshots every 30s. The cameras are handling about 250 motion events a day. AI identification of motion type and of individuals have exceeded my expectation, especially compared to the AI trial I used with my former solution. I'm only getting the notifications I truly need to know about thanks to AI feature set and capabilities of the hub and devices. But all the activities are there when I need them. I got a great deal on a 4TB SSD, but 1TB would have been more than adequate for my needs as well as providing longer retention than the competing cloud service. I have a growing library of automations with the garage/driveway light switch integration with night-time motion detection being my favorite. The hub itself is relatively small for all it does. I have it connected to my TV via HDMI and can quickly see a real-tine feed from four of my cameras. But, I use the Tapo IOS app on my iPad or iPhone for monitoring most of the time. I do plan to expand upon my Tapo hub investment with more smart devices and lighting. So far, it has been a very solid foundation for my needs.

Good Hub
It works the way I wanted it. I have mine setup up with a 1TB HDD, recording 24/7. The AI detection is not very good, doesn't seem to recognize and I have to keep adding the faces of family for it to recognize.. other than that, I like the ability to hook up my surveillance tv through HDMI.

Excelente
Funciona perfecto e incluye los tornillos para el disco duro (eso le ganó las 5 estrellas). Si no puedes enlazar tus cámaras intenta actualizar el firmware del HUB, eso resolvió todo para mí.

Easily add HDD for significant bump up in storage capacity
Am very pleased with all of the TAPO products that I have purchased (hub, camera(S), door bell, extender(S). The hub provides an easy way to integrate and centralize all of my storage needs. The migration from my older (smaller) TAPO hub was painless and went very well, i few clicks and a complete read {strongly suggested} of the instructions. I especially like (and use) the HDMI out port of the hub, the carousel option for displaying the feeds was well thought out, again, read the instruction (at least for the FIRST TIME). Because i have an easy and available HARD-WIRE connection in my home office, that is what I used for the initial setup, again fairly straight forward. The FORMAT function of BOTH the internal hard drive added to the hub & the (SD chip) for the cameras was straight forward and required very little learning curve. Although a network cable was included, personally I would have appreciated an HDMI cable. One of my OUTSIDE cameras is in a far corner of my house and the hub provided a bit of a needed boost to reach that far flung camera. The ability to do an auto fall back in case of a wifi deficiency is appreciated, the cameras figure out if it is better to latch onto the WIFI modem (most of the cameras) or to attach to the HUB (few of the cameras) based on the signal strength in that area. The phone app for the TAPO family is reasonably well thought out and designed and it was easy to add the HUB to the app. The HUB brings some neat EXTRA features in to the scenario with regards to AI. I know that TAPO is a separate company from AMAZON and with a small amount of coaxing I was able to integrate the whole collection into the ALEXA universe, a wee bit more explanation of the integration process would have saved me a bit of time and frustration. ESPECIALLY where and WHAT the device ICON is (and looks like) with-in ALEXA. The HUB, like all of the other TAPO products does NOT (REPEAT NOT) REQUIRE a subscription, this was an important point for me to consider as I have several (6 +) of TAPO products. The SD chip that was in my OLD TAPO hub was able to be re-purposed into one of my new cameras for local redundant local on camera storage. I have not yet needed the expert assistance of TAPO support, but I hear they do a really good job. The several iterations I have of TAPO devices, have all been thoughtfully designed and as I have acquired additional devices my satisfaction has been fortified and increased.
