I use to feed wild birds at home and ocasionally I make "Alpiste Milk" very healthy, fat reducer. could not see difference in the seeds for human consumption except for the price and package. this one is very clean. totally like it. You must wash it with running water before put in blender. Used it for years

It is a little large for the smaller finches, is good for a mixed aviary

Great seed!
I buy this for my birds (budgies & conure). The budgies especially love canary grass seed so I decided to buy the pure seed so that they do not have to hunt through other seed mixes to find what they want. They love this. The two bags I have are very clean, no dirt or anything else like that.

most favored seed
Canary grass seed is much higher in protein and other nutrients than millet and other common bird seeds, but unfortunately most pet bird seed mixes contain only a very small percentage due to it being expensive. I had several cockatiels who were just not thriving on a commercial bird mix. So I added a large amount of this to their mix, they pick it out first, and they have gained weight and vigor. I will not be without this.

My Parakeets love it
I have been having trouble with my parakeets not eating the enriched mixed seed from the local store. so I thought I would try individual seeds. These birds fly free, and are not tamed. They would scatter their food until they found what they wanted. The alpiste seed they don't scatter at all. They have four types of food to pick from currently. This is their favorite.
