Hush! A Thai Lullaby

I have this book memorized- we read it every night, and it always calms my twins down and helps them get ready to sleep. The cadence of the words is really soothing, and the repetition makes it easy to read on autopilot when you're tired too! The drawings are in pretty neutral colors, so they're soothing as well- although it's fun to watch what the baby's doing in the background! Older kids will like the animal noises as well. I've also used this in my classroom during "Around the World" units, and it's great for teaching about animals in Thailand (and having a mellow moment with the whole class!). This is one of my favorite books to give as a gift to new parents, and I highly recommend it!

My 4 yr old loves this book. On the other hand my request to the seller . Please put items like these in a sealed bag. Upon receiving this book. As I was flipping through the pages there was a string oil smell. It drive me nuts why the book smelled . Than I gave a closer look. What may have had happened. The box this book was in it was placed flat on the bottom because there were other items in the same box. I figured there may had been a spill of motor oil during shipping in any of the trucks. The outer box wet due to that the oil was soaked by the pages of this book. This is such a good book. I'd hate to see my child sad since I considered a return. Instead I left it to air out . The smell is still there a slight. Other than this issue there's nothing wrong with this book. My daughter can't be apart from this book.♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

I have such amazing memories of reading this to my 2 young nieces. The best part was holding my finger to my mouth to do the sound effect of the hush! Once they learned the story, they would look up at me each time to see me do it. That was also helpful to determine how tired they were.

Lovely story to read to toddlers, preschoolers or any young child. Bought this for my grandchildren and it's easy for them to participate in the reading because of the story's rhythmic pattern. They loved the story. I've given this book as a gift and the recipient always loves it!

Do not buy the paperback version! The color printing is worse than a highlights magazine and the binding cracks with the slightest touch (arrived ripped and bent). Disappointing because the poem is beautiful but I think a better quality publication would be worth the money.

I have bought Holly Meade's wonderful book Hush! Many times for birthdays and baby showers. This was the first time I bought the library binding. The cover is great but the inside pages are poorly printed and not true to the original colors of the cut paper colors! I would not buy the library edition again.

I purchased this book upon the recommendation of a parenting blog, and I couldn't be happier. The sweet story paired with the fun noises that the animals make keep the attention of my toddler again and again. We have fun making the noises together and talking about the animals and what they do. It also introduced a few animals that my daughter was unfamiliar with, like the water buffalo. We have had fun learning about these animals too. "Hush" was one of the first non-board books that I purchased for my daughter, and as such required a little more care to prevent damage. However, this book makes a wonderful bedtime story, and I can see why this award-winning book came so highly recommended. I have since bought three more copies as gifts.

We borrowed this from the library for a month before purchasing. My 1 year old points out all the animals in the book and smiles at the baby at the end. I like the cadence and the muted/simple imagery.

This is such a lovely book. I bought it for my Nursery class (3-4yrs) and it soon became a firm favourite. It has a brilliant rhythmical text that the children were able to join in with. It is a good way to introduce children to other cultures and the pictures offer plenty to talk about. Great for rhythm, rhyme, group reading, whole class story time and cultures.

I have bought this book seeking for some cultural diversity for my 3 year old book collection and it was a nice surprise , it has become one of my daughter's favourite before bed . The illustrations are beautiful and she loves to make the sound of the animals making noise and saying "shhhh" not to wake the baby up . She usually falls asleep when all animals are quiet , but when she is awake to read the last page , she finds it very funny ! Would recommend !

I love this book and have given it as a very successful gift to several families. The text and illustrations are beautiful, and work together to create a harmonious and charming bedtime story.
