Needless to say, we get a lot of snow, and a decent amount of ice. These keep us from sliding off the end of our stairs even when there is a decent amount of ice on the steps. They work much better than the adhesive stuff available at the hardware store, and since these are screwed in, I know they aren’t going anywhere. One of the did arrive slightly scratched, but it doesn’t affect the performance at all. Review: Great product - Great product. Works as advertised

Good traction
Lots of plastic choices out there but I wanted metal. Treads seem to be holding up great and traction is good. Black coating on screws didn’t last but not an issue for me. A bit pricey but worth it if they hold up for a lifetime.

Fixed the slippery wood on my walkways
The walkways around my house have a 6x6 lumber separating various areas. They have always been a bit slippery when wet, but as they age in the wet Seattle winters, they became unsafe to walk on. My first couple solutions all failed until I tried the HandiTreads. They look good and were easy to install. Very non slip. I did buy longer screws to use instead of the ones supplied. My wood is a little soft and I wanted more grip surface. If you do use alternate screws, I recommend stainless with black oxide finish to last and match.

Only solution for wet wood steps in the PNW
Awesome way to avoid a serious injury or lawsuit. Worth the price. I can tell these are actually going to work, and will last longer than the wooden steps, that's for sure. They're easy to install, but you may need to pre-drill if you've got harder wood. At 10 screws per strip, it took a while, but not a hard project by any means. I have tried tape, sanded paint and rubber mats--all of which either peeled, blew away, or moved around, and the mats just become a trip hazard in themselves. If you're in a wet climate, these are invaluable.
