Great Product!
My mother has an 18 foot oval above ground pool. The pool is maybe 4.5 feet deep. After opening the pool this season, we noticed the factory pump housing was cracked at the debris basket area, and was leaking. It also was held together with a ratchet strap. I was looking for a replacement electric pump that would work. Local pool stores were quoting me 400 to 500 dollars for a replacement. I found this Vevor 1.5 HP pump on Amazon. For the price, I am thoroughly impressed. The build quality on the pump is great. The pump operates with out a hitch and is super quiet to run. This Vevor pump actually works better and is more powerful than the Hayward pump I replaced it with. For approximately 120 dollars, you can’t go wrong!

Powerful and quiet
Quiet, as easy to assemble as you can experience, it was my first one but all came out good, when you stop the pump, it squirts water from the see through cap, self primed and it works, super quiet compared to my old one

Easy and fast to install
Old pump failed (overheats and shuts off). It took about 40 minutes to swap with this new one. I used the old electrical chores. The pump works GREAT! Highly recommend.

Nice pump, but some issues
This is a nice pump. The "wet end" of the pump is quality. The motor appears strong and quiet. To net it out, I returned it. Out of the box, the high speed worked, but the low speed didn't. Using their cord and just connecting water, low speed would only hum. This is the same circuit that powered our hayward pump just fine. And since it drew 10 amps on high power, it should have easily drawn 3 amps on low power. Manual was no help. I was going to give 5 stars because it appears to just be a random manufacturing defect and doesn't speak to the overall quality. However, I also had an issue trying to connect a male pipe thread (MPT) to barb fitting to attach a hose, using the inside threads on intake and outlet. It seemed to be designed for an o-ring. I emailed them to just ask them what o-ring size it took, since there was no info I found anywhere about o-ring size, certainly not in the manual which was absolutely minimal. They sent me what I felt was a snippy email back saying they couldn't find the order for "warrantee service". But I wasn't asking them for a seal, just for info on what size to use.... I returned it to amazon. And bought a competing brand that seems to be using the same wet end. By the way, I bought several o-ring sizes and found that 52OD-45ID-3.5Width seems to seal well and is easily available on Amazon. I'm thinking 50OD-44ID-3Width would also work well, maybe even better, but is much harder to find. It may also depend on the exact design of the thread-barb fitting. Don't overtighten, grease with silicone grease before tightening. The brief time we ran it on high power, both inlet and outlet and no leaks, no sucking air on intake. Their own fittings, supplied with the pump, are for glued pvc and a cap that screws onto the fittings using the outside threads, which was not the attachment approach we chose to use.

Go with a different brand! Sadly, it’s not worth it.
I am so disappointed in this pump. It legitimately did not last THREE MONTHS!! I purchased it last year to upgrade the pump on a pool that we’ve had for years. Unfortunately when we went to open the pool, my bf used a pressure washer to clean the liner and ripped it. So we decided to wait and get a bigger pool this year. Obviously not trying to use the pump till this year, was a completely stupid mistake on my part, knowing I’d go way over the return time. We set up our new pool the end of May 2025. Even with a bigger pool, this pump worked great when we first started using it. We run it on the lower power mode (and keep the screwed on cover, over the switch to turn it up to the higher power mode, to ensure it never got messed with). We haven’t even ran it as hard as it should be able to go, and in less that THREE MONTHS the motor is blown. I did like the fact it had a basket in it to help catch debris. I NEVER let it get debris in it (I used an extra skimmer that hooks to the pool to prevent that basket from getting dirty, as much as possible). I done this because the lid to clean that basket was a disaster to try to put back on when cleaning it. The rubber ring inside the lid that prevents it from leaking - is almost impossible to keep in place while putting the lid back on. Much harder than ANY of the pumps we’ve had in the past (we’ve had pools my entire life growing up). The pump DID work great - for the very short time. I REALLY wish I had just paid a little extra and got a better pump. I’ve had several people tell me the Vevor brand products are great quality products. I’d much rather spend my money with a “smaller” less known company if they make good products, as opposed to huge companies. Sadly I haven’t had that luck. I’ve used this pump, and a boat cover from the brand (that ripped the first month we had it) I gave them a try but will NEVER buy Vevor again.

Works great for 18 ft above ground pool. Only negatives are the power cord is only about 2-3ft long so keep that in mind as well as the pump itself doesn't have a power switch. It's either always on or always off depending on if it's plugged in. Other then that it works great and it pretty quiet.
