Highly recommend to gardeners who want a easy to set-up timer.
This is my second time buying (unfortunately I left it outside in a storage box with the batteries still in it and it got rusty). When I had to buy a new one, I didn't have any doubt it would be this one. It is so easy to set up you almost don't need the directions. However, the directions are very simple, well-presented and font is legible for my 60+ year old eyes. I have tried another brand (sorry can't remember the name of it) but every plus here was a negative for that brand. I highly recommend. After I set it up it worked as I wanted. P.S. I will remember to bring in this year and pull batteries out.

Does the job and user friendly too!
I needed timers to water my front and back lawns. I tend to forget to turn on the sprinklers and if I go away on vacation, the yard suffers. I did a LOT of research for timers that are programmable with some flexibility in scheduling. I also was looking for a fair price. Some of these units cost so much you could pay to have a professional irrigation system installed! I settled on this and am extremely happy. ** First, it's very simple. You simply turn the dial from step to step. The purpose of each step is clearly stated: nothing ambiguous or confusing about "set time" or "how often?" ** Second, the words on the dial are large and printed in a clean font. And the digital readout is huge. For us with failing eyes, it's great to not have to remember the bring the glasses. And if your spigot is behind a bush and in the shadows, it's a big plus. ** Third, it's easy to change the settings. If the weather says it's going to rain for the next week, in one minute you can change it to not run for the next 6 days or just turn it to off. When you turn it back on, it remembers the previous settings! ** Fourth, did I mention it's simple and easy? If you don't touch it for two months, you don't have to dig out the manual (if you even still HAVE the manual) to figure it out all over again. It's very intuitive as you turn the dial from step to step EXACTLY what you're being asked to do. ** Fifth, it runs on AA batteries. Cheaper than 9volts that some other models use. Some people might think it's a drawback that you can not set it to go on more than once a day. Baloney. I've spoken to lawn care professionals and they all tell me the same thing. A good HEAVY soak every few days is MUCH better than moderate watering twice a day. (Think what nature does.) A day or two of no water forces roots to grow deep in search of moisture. If the roots get moisture every 10 or 12 hours they never need to grow deep and you get a weak lawn with shallow roots. I'm only in my first season with these timers. I don't know how long the batteries will last. But if they make it to the end of a watering season, great! I go around on New Years day and change out all the batteries in the house anyway (smoke alarms, clocks and now hose timers.) And no matter what the ultimate life is of the timer itself, I will replace it with the same timer. In the long run, replacing the timers every few years, I will NEVER come CLOSE to the cost of a pro installation and yet I have a system that does exactly what theirs would do. I just hope that Orbit keeps the design AS IS! I really hope they don't make it all digital or more complicated. It's perfect just the way it is. I hope Orbit reads these reviews !

Great Timer When You Get a Good One, but Quality Can Be Hit or Miss
I have purchased several of these Orbit timers over time, so my experience has been a little mixed. When you get a good one, they are extremely useful and work wonderfully. Unfortunately, I've also had some that leaked or didn't seal properly and others that eventually stopped working, so the quality and longevity can be a bit hit or miss. That being said, I continue purchasing them because the programmable watering settings are extremely helpful for our particular situation. We live with a limited water supply and use water storage tanks for our farm animals, so managing when and how often water is available requires quite a bit of planning. Being able to program a watering schedule rather than constantly managing everything manually has genuinely made our lives easier. The controls and settings give me the flexibility I need to manage our tanks and watering throughout the day. Once everything is programmed, I don't have to worry as much about remembering to manually turn water on and off, which is particularly valuable when managing animals and trying to conserve a limited water supply. I just wish the quality were more consistent from one unit to another. Considering how many I've purchased, I've experienced enough leaking, sealing, and longevity issues that I can't quite give them five stars. However, the ones that work properly have been extremely helpful, which is why I continue coming back to this model. Overall, I would still recommend it, particularly if you need a programmable timer for managing watering on a schedule. When you get a good one, it's a very useful little device. I just wish every unit had the same reliability.

I have many Orbit controllers, has been a great solution for me at an off grid cabin.
I have 4, 2 and 1 station orbit controllers. They have been reliable for me and the batteries have lasted more than one season. I recommend them.

ORBIT - SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT
EDIT: 07/06/2020 Well, the 3rd 3 outlet Orbit Timer bit the dust this morning. Or rather, I noticed it for the first time. I'm not sure how long the water has been running on station 3. It was just continuous. There was a small pond among the trees we were trying to water towards the road. The brush hide the constant flow. I can't tell you how disgusted I am with these timers. When will ORBIT step up to the plate and realize they're manufacturing a defective product?? END OF EDIT. These timers are easy to attach, easy to program and easy to manually control. We've been using Orbit timers for a few years now. In May of 2015, we bought 2 Orbit 3-outlet timers for the first time, model 56082 from Amazon. We bought another 3-outlet Orbit timer, as well as 2 single outlet Orbit timers locally. Five timers in all: 3 of the 3-outlet times and 2 of the 1-outlet timers. Then in May of 2017, we bought another 3-outlet timer from Amazon to replace one that had stopped working. And in May of 2018, we bought another single outlet timer from Amazon to replace one that had stopped working. It never occurred to us to seek a replacement or refund from Orbit, because they did work for us for awhile, even watering everything on our property while we vacationed. We were impressed. And we were not aware that they had a 6 year warranty. Last year we unhooked all of our perfectly functioning Orbit timers, removed the batteries, cleaned them, and put them in storage, like we always do. This year, we pulled them out, put in new batteries, and attempted to program them for watering. To our consternation, we discovered that none of the 3-outlet timers would program correctly, would not turn off even when we switched them to off and would not respond to manual control. An outlet might work or...it might not. It was just random what these timers would do. They're designed to run one station at a time, but the first one wouldn't turn off, but the second one would begin, so that 2 outlets were running at the same time on the same timer and they would not shut off unless we turned the water off. And one of the single timers did that same thing [not responding to the programming]. Now we couldn't trust any of them to do our watering and/or function correctly. We have a water well and the possibility of these things coming on and staying on while we're on vacation or otherwise gone for a few days runs the risk of flooding our watering areas and/or ruining our very expensive water well. So, we decided to buy all new Orbit timers to replace all of the non-working ones. On June 22, 2020, we ordered from Amazon 3 brand-spanking new 3-port timers, model 56082, as well as 2 brand-spanking new single port timers, model 62061Z to the tune of $290. Five brand-new timers in all. They arrived on the 25th and 26th of June, 2020. On the 27th, we put new batteries in, programmed them, attached them to the water faucets, connected the water hoses to each outlet and thought we were good to go. The next morning, on the 28th, imagine our surprise to wake up and see 2 of the brand-spanking new 3-port timers had not shut off and would not respond to turning the timers off. We had to shut the water faucets off. The other 3-port timer looked like it hadn't watered from outlet 2, so we tried doing it manually, but it wouldn't respond to a manual command. We always water in the wee hours of the morning before the sun comes up. The watering is always finished before daylight. Anyway... So, we took the timers off the faucets, took the battery packs out, allowed the memory to clear, reinstalled the batteries, reprogrammed them and reinstalled them. We ran tests through all the cycles, setting each outlet at 2 minute intervals. They worked. Then we cycled through all outlets to see if they would respond to manual control and all seemed well, giving us hope that they were going to function correctly. The following morning, the 29th, we woke to the same problem on 2 of the 3-outlet timers. Not one to give up easily, I ran them [my husband had already given up] through multiple tests, removing and reinserting the batteries, reprogramming and testing ad nauseam. Finally, I gave up too and decided to send these two 3-outlet timers back. UPS is scheduled to pick them up today, the 30th of June, 2020. These were brand-new and defective right out of the box. We are so disappointed in the compromised quality of these Orbit timers. At the first inkling that these things were defection, we should have re-boxed them all and sent them all back immediately. As of now, we're returning 2 of the 3-outlet timers. And we're going to be vigilantly aware of the performance of the ones we're keeping. If there's even a hint that one functions incorrectly, it's going back immediately. What has happened to the integrity of companies that are mass producing defective products? It's just all about the bottom line -- $$$. And there are probably multitudes of buyers unaware of Orbits 6 year warranty and just end ups trashing them. Should not companies be accountable for their defective products? I think so. We weren't aware that these timers have a 6 year warranty or exactly what that warranty covered. Perhaps companies like Orbit count on the ignorance of its customers. Orbit needs to be on top of all these negative comments. Now we're hesitant to order replacements and we do not, as of right now, recommend them to anyone.

A company that stands by their word
At first, it worked as it was supposed to work. After 38 day it stopped working at all. The window on it would keep flashing on and off. Changed the batteries with no avail. I missed the return window by just a few days. Sad, as my old ones worked fine. After writing this review, I decided to call the company and spoke to a gentleman that helped me to get a new Orbit product free of charge even though my return date was past due so I’m giving you five stars just for the fact that you actually are accompany that stands by your products 👍

Simple, straight-forward, effective! Love it.
Go from the box to setting it up and using it within 5 minutes! The instructions are well-written, straight-forward and intuitive. Our timer has been in use for a week and doing everything we expected - keeping the right time, turning on and off when programmed and the manual override is easy while maintaining your schedule. It's perfect for our needs to control our vegetable garden drip system every morning. Ours need is simple - one "on" time, one "off" time. If you need multiple on/off times in the same day, I don't think this unit has that capability.

Stopped working because water got inside
Great when it worked. Purchased to water new grass while on vacation for 2 weeks. Fortunately it worked for the 2 weeks I was away, but stopped working 2 days after I returned. It is not waterproof. When I opened to check the batteries, water came out, also screen display had water behind the clear piece. I kept shaking it to get as much water out as possible, then set the opening in front of a fan for a few days. It finally dried out after about a week so that the display would show up, so that I could reset it. Once I connect it back up, I will review again to see if it actually works like it is suppose to. I would have just returned it, but until I returned from my trip it was past the 30 days allowed by Amazon.
