If You Give a Moose a Muffin

I first saw this book last October. It was in a beautiful book store in Mystic, Connecticutt. I wanted to bring it home but already had a bulging suitcase so regretfully left it behind. But some books stay with you and this was one of them. Several months later I knew that I HAD to send off for it but was worried that I would be disappointed when it arrived, that my initial brief perusal had been misjudged. I'm relieved to say it wasn't. This is a wonderful book. It delivers on every level with stunning, engaging illustrations and clever text which leads you on to the next page never quite knowing what is going to happen next. A couple of weeks ago I wrote a blog entitled 'Every Story is a Love Story'. This may be a picture book but it is also a form of love story between a boy and a moose, between a writer and her craft, between an illustrator and the characters whom she has brought to life on the page. For me this is a classic book, one not to be missed and never to be parted from.

This is gorgeous - I've bought it before for other children. It's a BIG book with wonderful pictures about what happens when you ( a child) give a moose a muffin. You just have to love a moose who is going to the shops in a cardigan belonging to the child's mother (borrowed because it's chilly out) - and who gets all picky because it's got a button missing - so he sews on a button - and then wants to make sock puppets with buttons for eyes. It's a delight to read out loud to a child.

An absolute hit with the 5 year olds, and I love it too. You might think it will have one of those -don't let the camel put his nose in the tent- moral endings, but it doesn't. The moose and the boy become friends. It is about kindof going with the flow of your friends. It's nice and the illustrations hilarious!

When you see a moose out your kitchen window, you might be tempted to give him a muffin. That is, of course, a nice gesture. But can you really eat a muffin without jam? And that jam might make a mess, and then who knows where that might lead. Somehow, I think it will be a fun tale (or is that tail). Once again, this imaginative author has written a good that is fun. The progression is pretty wild, but it also seems logical as you are going along. The illustrations are wonderful as well and really help tell the story, which is told in just a couple of sentences on a page. The wild imagination is great for all ages, but kids especially will enjoy seeing where things lead. Pick this up today and see just what feeding a moose might get you into.

Bought at the request of my disabled son. He really is loves it, and I thought it was witty, humorous and non - controversial or contentious!

These are great books! A fun read for both parents and kids!

Um livro muito bom.

The one year old loves the hard coved pages. That is one of the man reasons we ordered from this author. The book lasts longer, easy to turn & handle & very cute stories. I will reorder more books.
