I bought these elsewhere(at quite a discount, I might add) for a beginning watercolor class I just finished. While I can say the pigment is really rich and obviously of high quality, the color assortment is odd, and it's hard to mix these shades to get everyday colors you might want to use. (The teacher agreed.) For instance, you get two greens, Permanent Green and Veridian Hue. The permanent is a light green, almost lime. The veridian is nearly a blue green - neither is 'plain old green' so unless you are experienced mixing shades to achieve a specific result, I would suggest another product, especially if you are new to watercolors. As you go along, you can decide what colors you will use regularly and many tutorials will list a range of standard colors in an artist's palette that would probably be best bought separately.
