Works perfectly!
Easy to setup and very easy to use. The menu seems a little slow as far as responsiveness from the remote but thats usually expected from the cheaper models of the roku. Its a great price especially when turning an older non smart tv into basically a smart tv. Its got all kinds of apps on it if you wanna use netflix Hulu or pretty much any other mainstream streaming app.

Easy HD streaming upgrade — simple setup with lots of free content
Roku Streaming Stick HD to give my older TV smart features, and overall it’s been a solid choice. What I liked: +Simple Setup: Just plug it into an HDMI port and connect to Wi-Fi — setup was intuitive and fast. +Voice Remote: The included Roku Voice Remote lets you power on the TV, adjust volume, and use voice search across apps without juggling multiple remotes. +Access to Entertainment: Once connected, I had easy access to tons of streaming apps plus free and live TV channels on The Roku Channel — a nice way to watch news and sports without extra subscriptions. +Compact Design: The stick stays discreet behind the TV and doesn’t take up additional counter space. What could be better: -Picture Limited to HD: This model streams in HD (1080p) only — so if you have a 4K TV and want sharper resolution, you’ll want a Roku 4K-capable device instead. -Performance Depends on Wi-Fi: Like most streaming sticks, performance is tied to your network — slower Wi-Fi can mean buffering or occasional dips in quality. Overall: This Roku HD Streaming Stick is a great entry-level streaming device. It’s easy to use, offers lots of free and premium content options, and the voice remote adds convenience. If you don’t need 4K and want a no-fuss way to make your TV smart, it’s a solid pick.

Perfect for an old Not-Smart TV
Easy to use (I did not give any payment info to the device. I simply set up a Roku account with my email address). This HDMI device plugs right in (comes with a power cord that connects to the TV's USB port for power), it sets itself up automatically (at least it did with my old Sanyo television, which is not a smart device, so no apps and no internet connectivity). After setting the password for the wi-fi, then signing up for Roku with my email and checking my email to verify the account, I chose which apps to show on the menu, the device worked. Now watching free movies and television shows (though for-pay streaming services are available). My old TV gets a new life as a streaming device, too, thanks to Roku.

Versatile, Works great at an awsome price.
This is our second roku device. Great value for streaming channelson main tv or on a secondary unit in another room . Long bean a roku fan. This streamline stick is great for tvs without the roku option installed. Its affordable and does as intended. Plug into port, follow setup instructions, and good to go. It does have its own power cord so beware it will need an available outlet to utilize. Remote works great, just wish it was rechargable. Definitely a great addition to a setup, works well as a primary or secondary tv source. The small size makes it easy to take with you when you travel. And comes loaded with everything you would expect from roku. Yes, I recommend it.

Works well, very fast, don't need an extra HDMI cable and remote works at any angle.
Pretty fast little streaming device. Feels much nicer than the older versions, also updated format for the home screen and controls etc. It might be great for some that it allows the volume to be adjusted on the tv from your roku remote, but my tvs are older and it was hard to bypass the setup for that. I was also disappointed that you still have to plug a usb cord into your tv, projector etc to power the streaming stick. I did not expect to have to use external power sources for this device, that was the reason I bought this device and was disappointed. It connected quickly and easily though, it is much smaller and nice that I don't have to find a flat surface for it to sit on. Especially since most of our tvs are mounted on the wall and I have to tape or sticky tack the old versions to the tvs so the remote can connect to them. This one however is great because it does not need to be seen or faced perfectly for the remote to control the device. I was able to point the remote in the opposite direction of the tv and streaming stick and it still controlled the streaming stick without even being pointed in the direction of the stick. Overall I really like it, but was a little disappointed in the need for external power.

Feels Premium Compared to Cheap Amazon Fire TV Stick Remotes!
recently upgraded to the Roku Streaming Stick HD (2025 model) for my older 1080p TV, and I'm thoroughly impressed. This little device is fantastic – it's compact, hides perfectly behind the TV (powers directly from the TV's USB in many cases), and delivers smooth, crisp HD streaming without any buffering or lag on my Wi-Fi network. Setup was a breeze: plug it into HDMI, connect to Wi-Fi, and you're streaming in minutes. The interface is clean, intuitive, and ad-light compared to others I've used. What really stands out is the build quality – the stick itself feels solid and well-made, and the included voice remote is sturdy, responsive, with nice clicky buttons that feel premium in hand. No cheap plastic rattle or flimsiness here. Previously, I had an Amazon Fire TV Stick, and the remote on that was disappointingly low-quality: lightweight, creaky buttons, and it felt like it could break easily. The Roku remote is a huge step up – more ergonomic, better weight, and the voice control works flawlessly for searching shows or channels. Pros: Super fast and reliable streaming in HD. Voice remote with TV power/volume controls – simplifies everything (no juggling remotes). Sleek, hidden design that doesn't block other ports. Great app selection, including all major services and tons of free content. Excellent value for the price. Cons: No 4K support (but that's expected for an HD model – perfect for non-4K TVs). Relies on TV USB for power sometimes, so check your TV's port. If you're looking for an affordable, high-quality streaming device that feels built to last (especially compared to the flimsy Amazon Fire Stick remotes), this Roku Streaming Stick HD is a winner. It's made my TV feel brand new again!

Roku is the best streaming device by far.
We have several different iterations of Roku devices but I had not purchased the "Stick" version for fear that they would perform similar to my first FireStick which had slow menu navigation and loading on top of poor Wifi signal. Despite this and due to the discontinuation of Express version I purchased our first Roku Stick and was pleasantly surprised. The menu navigation is no different or slower than using the more expensive Rokus like the Ultra and Express. The remote no longer has a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones nor does the stick itself have bluetooth capabilities however this isn't an issue for us as the Roku app allows you to use your phone to stream the audio to whatever listening devices you want as long as the Roku Stick and your phone are connected to the same network. We haven't had any issues with the Wifi speed even in the room furthest away from the primary router where previously our FireStick struggled. Its very possible the newer FireSticks have better Wifi as our FireStick was an early version. The Roku stick also does not support AirPlay so if you like the idea of streaming photos videos from your iPhone you might wanna spring for the more expensive version (my wife enjoys this feature). Outside these differences the experience is virtually identical to the more expensive devices. General Review of Roku ecosystem: Full disclosure my first experience with Amazons streaming devices and ecosystem are from the early days of FireSticks but we do use the Amazon app on our Roku currently. I do favor Roku's devices and ecosystem overall. Roku requires a credit card upon device account setup however no charges are made unless you want to subscribe to a service or purchase content. Accounts contain information on all the devices, locations(for example:Roku Ultra:Office, Roku Express: Family Room, etc). Remotes when paired with the device are interchangeable between devices. When my kids loose the front room remote for our Ultra we just go grab the family room remote until we remember there is a remote locator feature which makes the remote itself ring so you can locate it.(not all devices?) Settings and controls features are pretty intuitive and allow you to customize your experience in a way I don't recall on Amazon devices. Roku offers free content in the form of live streaming channels(usually with ads) and recognizable movies and shows on both their Roku Channel as well as their Roku kids channels. The interface allows you to customize your home screen channels/features. Roku feels like they want you to setup your environment as you like where Amazon feels geared towards selling you their movies and services. The fish tank screen saver doesn't have ads and I don't recall them being part of the city side scroller screen saver either. It just feels like less of a commercial ecosystem then Amazons in my opinion. The Roku app is absolutely amazing. It allows you to watch the same content as your devices so sometimes I will watch my favorite shows on my phone in bed, no additional apps required. It also acts as a remote for any of the Roku devices. The baked in streaming audio feature is a huge plus for me. I will sometimes watch a show on a TV but want to do chores throughout the rest of the house. I start the show, turn on the app, route the audio through my phone and listen to the show on my Bluetooth headphones while moving throughout the house. I rarely download apps of this nature but the features of the Roku app are absolutely one of the best features of the Roku ecosystem. Roku support was very helpful when one of my devices failed to update making the unit non functional. A phone call with support had them try to trouble shoot the unit before deeming the issue unresolved and they immediately sent me a brand new replacement. No RMA garbage, just a quick and painless warranty replacement. I am very happy with all my Roku devices, ecosystem and Roku brand and will continue to support them and recommend them to friends and family.
