2018 release. Following twenty albums over 50 years, Yoko Ono's Warzone is a strikingly different record from those she has previously made. Revisiting and reimagining 13 songs from her past work, spanning 1970-2009, the lyrics and messages are still pertinent-perhaps even more pertinent-in 2018. Recent US presidents and many of our world leaders have never served in the military, yet they continually nourish and serve the corporate-infused military industrial complex, keeping the world in a perpetual warfare. Warzone further builds the legacy of an artist unparalleled in her unique and singular vision. With it's stripped down recordings and arrangements, and a particular emphasis on Yoko's voice and lyrics, the content of her message rings clear and unencumbered, with wisdom and fortitude her power has intensified with time and life experience.

You either get her or you despise her
Some think Yoko is painful to listen to, I say the opposite, she's a brilliant artist telling it like it is, and her range brings out emotions of tenderness few artists ever achieve. This is a stripped down and raw interpretation of earlier music. She's not trying to be your mother by singing some melodic nighttime lullabies. She wants to pinch you from your daytime slumbers. Listen to "Hell in Paradise," as good as anything Lennon or Dylan ever wrote. This cd reminds me of John's first solo LP "Plastic Ono Band." It has something deeper to say, less about making music and more about relevance and substance. Kind of Allen Ginsberg like. Ya! This cd is a poem broken into subheadings. I probably have everything she's put out. I would say this is comparable to her masterpieces " Georgia Stone" and "Rising." If you're familiar with them and appreciate their tone and intent, "Warzone" will be to your liking. Listening to her take on "Imagine," as I close, don't compare it to John's in 1971, this is 2018 and global warming and time to wake-up.

Yoko picks perfect time during this political unrest to release this collection.
A little stark. But, fans of her work prior to the 1980's will enjoy this cd more. The cd is the reworking of mostly her 80's material (as Paul Simon recently did) , without the full band & dance elements. The revisting of these songs bare little resemblance to the original versions thus fresh to those that may have heard these songs the first time around. The creative innovator proves herself to still maintain a truly unique style that is a head of her time. This Grandmother & Grammy winner shows why she still keeps gathering fans like B-52's, RZA, Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Iggy Pop & Lady Ga Ga to name a few.

We need Yoko's voice now more than ever
Warzone features reimagined versions of 13 previously released tracks including Imagine. I very much like this album. It is a powerful response to Trump and all of the other negativity in the world. The musical arrangements are subtle and beautiful. They allow the lyrics to shine through. It reminds of Japanese flower arranging: simple, delicate, and lovely. What I have always admired about Yoko is that she has been a consistent voice for hope and for peace. We need that voice now, more than ever.

Oh Yoko.
Yoko is in her eighties now but released one of the most moving albums of 2018 with themes that are right on target with the current time we’re living in. The music arrangements are sparse but filled with emotion and ceativity. Yoko is a national treasure, and I’m glad she continues to stay creative and involved in her art.

Ono Power
These songs are still relevant decades later. To hear Yoko singing them again at the age of 85 is very moving to me. Yoko has so much to teach the world in her lyrics, but because of who she is, a lot of the world doesn't want to hear what she has to say. To those people, open up and join us in living.

Definitely it's own sound, difficult and rewarding listening.
This is a great collection, a reworking of a bunch of her songs into stark and sometimes shocking versions, but also rocking and uplifting. It sounds very modern and the messages are very apt for our times. This is more punk rock than anything the 20 year olds are doing these days.

A True Artist
This is a wonderful album from an 85 year old artist who is allowing us to peer into her soul. The songs range from truly chilling to delicately beautiful. A great addition to Yoko’s discography- you cannot listen to this collection without felling it.

No change
This is tough to review. One of my favorite albums is Double Fantasy. I actually enjoyed Yoko's contributions on that album. Most of her music is almost hard to listen to. This album is also hard to listen to which is sort if a good thing. After all of these years Yokohama has stayed true to herself and does what she does best.

MOST POIGNANT ALBUM TO DATE!
The long-awaited brand new album from the one and only – legendary Yoko Ono!I’ve been eagerly anticipating the delivery of this CD since its announcement and Pre-Order of some months ago. But in the meantime to help, Yoko has been uploading some tremendously clever and very artistic Videos to accompany each Song in the meantime. This is probably the most meaningful and poignant of all Yoko’s albums to date; in that it’s both appropriate and suitable for today and the times in which we live. Those of you who have never really listened to Yoko’s deep words and lyrics before on previous albums, will most certainly be listening to them here! These pieces hit right out, with thought-provoking meanings and understandings from those who care about life and the world; for those who don’t – they won’t mean a fig... These are feelings and thoughts for the terrible times in which we live – but as always, Yoko believes (and encourages us to do the same) there is still hope! From this tremendously wise lady who never gives up – and from someone we should admire and appreciate; this is her most ‘striking’ album yet!Long live Yoko Ono – we love you!i ii iii

Men flashing their guns and balls!
Having heard Yoko doing a 'Meg Ryan' whilst shouting along to some improv jazz with John Zorn, I happened upon this little beauty on YouTube. It's a similar baptism of fire that someone new to Phillip Glass would face if they attempted 'Music in twelve parts' for the first time. Utterly bewildering and at times cringeworthy but will make you laugh. Ideal music to sing along to whilst wearing headphones as no-one could argue you were out of tune!

Yoko, s peace anthem
This album contains a brutal message of where we ended up by not giving peace a chance! But with a space for hope? We only have to imagine it!!!!
