I live in Colorado so cannabis is legal here, so that's what I use these cubes for. Well, they are actually more conical in shape but they fit in square germination / cloning trays perfectly as well. I've bought these from the beginning of my germ / clone cycles and they work perfectly. Unlike rock-wool cubes that are irritating to the skin, you can handle these for hours and never experience an irritation to the skin. They are as soft as a wet sponge, hold plenty of water, and have tons of air space for excellent root growth. I know this sounds like hype, but I've used over 300 of these cubes, and I have had 100% germination / cloning rate. I use a heat pad under my 50 cube germ / clone tray, and put about a gram of root solution in a gallon of water and fill the tray. Then I spray the clones with a folier spray, put the 7 inch hood on the tray, and let it go. If using seeds, keep them in the dark until they sprout, or if cloning then keep a low watt grow light over the clones 24/7 until you see roots starting to come out of the cube. Then either veg your plants for a bit, or move them directly to flower mode for SOG (sea of green). All of this can be googled and you too can grow great plants, or just e-mail me and I'll help you out. Either way I clone all my mother plants for twice the numbers I need, then I pick the best growing plants to keep, and sell my excess to friends and family. I've never had a plant not seed, or clone properly, so I will continue to use this product. And don't get me wrong, even though the majority of my grows are cannabis plants, I also grow tomatoes, peppers, peas, cucumbers, basil, cilantro, parsley, lettuce, and a few other garden salad type plants in these cubes too. I run a DWC (deep water culture) type of hydroponics, typically known as RDWC and bubble ponics. It's basically a top fed DWC and I can attest to shaving off about 2 to 3 weeks of growing time from seedling to harvest. Or clone to harvest is even a bit quicker. Just keep a mother plant or two around to take cuttings from and you'll never have to buy seeds again, and you can make your own seeds if you want. Either way, a great product, highly recommended, and I will be buying these for a long time!!!

I ordered these for my wildflower seeds. I am extremely fortunate to live in a sunbelt / 10a zone where everything grows no matter what. If I had just planted the seeds in my raised beds the weeds would have taken over and then I would have probably pulled everything up and had no blooms. To combat this, I started the seeds using these cubes and now they are all seedlings. No mold or other issues with this product. I will note I ensured proper aeration and aseptic technique. I will order more of these in the future as my gardening needs require and when I am absolutely certain I want a specific flower in a predetermined space and need fast growth. I also just threw some loose seeds in old dirt and they are growing too but are inter-tangled with weeds. Those will be the ones that unfortunately don’t make it. Thank you.

Honestly, should be cheaper.I don’t like how Rock Wool don’t decompose over a short amount of time, if they do decompose l. Therefore, I use these.

I turned away from box standard Rockwool plugs to use Root Riot cubes a long time ago. Success rates when cloning are now 100% with rarely any loss due to the pre-soaked/enriched cubes offering a far more welcoming root zone than that of Rockwool which involves far more preparation and monitoring than Root Riot. Although the cubes come pre-soaked I generally end up adding a little more moisture. Understandably, older shelf stock does often arrive a little dryer than cubes just leaving the factory floor so a little bit of adjustment is necessary but for beginners or people who are happy to pay a few pounds extra for an easier life then these are the plugs you need!! I observe rooting emerging from the plugs in 10-14days (when using clonex rooting hormone). I can't imagine using anything else other than Root Riot and Clonex together to produce my clones. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to all.
