Excellent Speeds for my Nintendo Switch 2
I’ve been using this Lexar 1TB Play PRO microSD Express card for a few months now with my Nintendo Switch 2, and it has honestly been impressive so far. The storage capacity alone is a huge upgrade, especially if you download a lot of larger games, but the speed is what really stands out. Load times feel noticeably quicker compared to older standard microSD cards I’ve used in the past. I tested it with a handheld gaming device and had no issues with installs, updates, or running games directly from the card. Downloads transfer quickly, and the performance has stayed consistent even after regular use. The card also runs cooler than expected and has been very reliable with no corruption or disconnect issues so far. Another thing I appreciate is how future-proof it feels with the microSD Express support and higher read/write speeds. It’s nice knowing it’s capable of handling newer devices and larger game files without constantly managing storage space. The 1TB capacity fills a perfect middle ground between performance and practicality for portable gaming. The only small downside is the price. It’s definitely more expensive than standard microSD cards, especially if you don’t specifically need the faster speeds yet. Also, some older devices won’t fully take advantage of the Express performance, so results can depend on what you’re using it with. That said, if you have a compatible gaming handheld or want something fast and dependable for future devices, this card is absolutely worth considering. After a few months of use, it’s still performing flawlessly and has easily earned a 5-star rating from me.

Love The Space (Not The Price)!
I was able to secure one of these 1TB bad boys soon after the April 2nd Switch 2 Direct. I have a 1TB microSDXC in my Switch, and with this 1TB microSDXC Express beast (well, for now—1TB is already becoming "quaint" in some circles) the transfer over to my Switch 2 was smooth and seamless—especially with the 256GB already on board the Switch 2! NOTE: Remember, a microSDXC Express (or microSDXC EX) is required for the Switch 2. A microSDXC will not work in a Switch 2, even to run Switch games. After nearly a month of playing my Switch 2 every day, I have had zero issues running games from this card—it cruises along like a champ! It hits Nintendo's required specifications, and the load times are blazing—as expected when compared to some of those atrocious Switch load times. The sticking point is, of course, the price. Ringing up at a wallet-busting $200, a 1TB card is not for everyone at this point. If I had not been saving for the Switch 2 for six months AND had not received a decent bonus from my job back in March, it would not have been for me, either. However, even with the extra space on the Switch 2 internally, I wanted my Switch 2's expanded memory to have as much space as my Switch. So I bit the bullet, and at least for me, it was worth it. (That extra space on the Switch 2 is now really extra space!) If you have the financial bandwidth, this card is a great "set it and forget it" Switch 2 expanded storage solution for probably the next few years. This was the case for 1TB during the entire Switch generation—I would never even think about storage space when I picked up a game from the eShop. I expect similar results with this card for the foreseeable future, even with Switch 2 games being larger and Game Key Cards being a thing for some reason.

No issues, easy, no fuss, and 512 GB better.
I didn't even know about the Nintendo Switch 2 storage setup that will only accept Micro SD Express cards instead of normal Micro SD cards, but I did find this one, and it is so great for the extra storage needs for my Nintendo Switch 2. I looked around at pricing, which is very expensive, and reviews for this brand, and this seemed to be the go to in terms of quality and price, as that was my main concern. So, it is a great value for the storage needed. When I got it and installed it on my Switch, it was immediately recognized and was just plug and play easy to use. Now I'm able to load way more games since the Switch 2 only comes with 256 GB. It's really worth the hype with no issues at all. I'm confident with the money spent on it since my whole library is digital.

Great option for Switch 2
At this point I have purchased 2 of these SD cards, one is 1TB the other is 512GB, both of them have arrived without issues and worked out of the box with my Nintendo Switch 2 perfectly, transfer speeds are great bot for reading and writing, I have many of my games installed on them and I can play from them without any major stutters, I also love the plastic case they come in, it offers a great place to store them and keep them safe when they are not in use, I can freely swap between them any time I want with my different games installed, I highly recommend Lexar if you are looking for an SD card for your Switch 2.

Huge Storage Upgrade for my Switch 2
I received my 1TB MicroSD Express Card back on October 4th for my Switch 2. I decided to wait on posting my review until today, just to see how it has been performing. Overall, my card is working great! Installation was very simple, just had to insert it, format it (takes about a few minutes) and I was good to go. After transferring about 40 Switch 1 and 2 games to my new card, I still have plenty of storage left, about 700 GB. I never have to worry about running out of space again! As for performance, it loads fast when I play my games. It doesn’t slow down or overheat after playing for hours. My new card is worth it for the many years I’ll have with my Switch 2. I have noticed some complaining the card easily snaps; it doesn’t, their quality is just like other MicroSD brands. They either were being rough with it or used tools to try scam Amazon.

512GB card failed after five months!
This is a review of the Lexar 512GB microSD Express card, and does not refer to, apply to, or include any other size or version of this Lexar flash memory card. I bought this card on 09-Apr-2025 in anticipation of using it in my Nintendo Switch 2. I received my Switch 2 in one of the first shipments on 09-Jun-2025. Put the card in after making sure the Switch 2 was fully set up and configured. It behaved the way I expected it to. Has worked completely normally until yesterday. Yesterday, when I turned my Switch 2 on, I received a message on the screen that the microSD card was incompatible and that I would need to remove it. I did remove it, put in a SanDisk 256gb microSD Express card and that card worked just fine. When I put the Lexar into my Mac Studio (through a microSD-to-SD adapter), the card showed only as an 8GB flash card. I also tried the card in a Lexar USB SD card reader (both in the SD slot with an adapter as well as the microSD slot) and in both cases, the card appeared as an 8GB device. When I put the same card (in yet a different microSD-to-SD adapter) into my Windows 11 system, it showed the same 8GB max capacity. Nothing to do with the (prior) formatting, nothing to do with the partitioning scheme (since all attempts to redo both on both systems, macOS and Windows 11 failed). Somehow, my 512GB flash card has been magically reduced to 8GB and is unusable for future storage of any kind. There were no power outages or other home electrical weirdness. Even if there were, this system (and the TV and the HDMI receiver) are sitting behind a 1,500W UPS, so no spikes got through that. The Switch 2 has been in somewhat continual use. Not daily or hourly, but at least once a week or so and, until yesterday, the card was behaving normally. Like I said earlier, this card was purchased solely and only for the Switch 2 and has never been in any other system or device prior to installation into the Switch 2. I have read older reviews of Lexar cards that exhibit the same odd behavior (reducing down to 8GB and/or becoming unusable). Makes me rethink using Lexar as an option for flash card memory. I have purchased two SanDisk 5122GB microSD Express cards as a replacement. Will see how those work out.
