Perfect fit, fast install, sounds great
I've read the reviews that say modification is required, but these were a direct drop-in on a MIM Fender Jazz Bass with no modifications needed to the bass, pick guard, or pickups. At first I thought the included control plate did not fit the pick guard well, but I transferred the electronics and reinstalled the factory control plate and it was even worse. I guess I never noticed it before. The wiring took minutes and the pickups provide all the noise-free, punchy tone you expect from EMGs. The pickups are loud and clear and the controls are responsive. The only hiccup is trying to arrange the wires around the battery when reinstalling the control plate since the control cavity is a little tight.

EMG IS THE WAY TO GO
First off, I've been an EMG fan for many years at the time, when I was a guitar player a lot of my Ibanez guitars I always upgraded to active emgs, now since I'm a full-time bass player for the last 15 years I decided to go with the pre-wired jazz pick up set I thought they were not active cuz it didn't say in the description but, they sound fantastic they're a little more punched than the stock ones no single coil hum like like with the stock pickups, and very easy to hook up,, I use squier fender bases p base and j base,, not the cheaper ones but anyways it's a fantastic upgrade easy to hook up and yes in the directions the 9-volt battery just lays in the cavity or the control plate goes, you have a lot of room just make sure you move the wires out of the way with some micro zip ties, I bought two sets both for my squire jazz bases and I'm not looking back, and my other squier p bases I have EMG geezer Butler signature pickups and those are freaking fantastic too just to let you know if you have a p base it doesn't matter if it's cheap or expensive then pickups will definitely punch, I hope this helps you in your search even though the prices over $200 for the pre-wired j set, you'll be very impressed and will not look back.... Have a good day and keep on rocking

Beyond pleased. Easy to install, amazing sound, great quality.
Installed these on my 2006 Fender Mexican Jazz Bass, and good lord am I glad I did. I assumed they wouldn't fit perfectly, or there would be issues feeding the wires (given the difference inside vs. an American model) but I was totally wrong. Plug and play. The tone difference I'm getting is just excellent, I went from a muddy-worn out "eh" jazz tone, to a very modern crisp bass-rich sound that I cannot wait to toy around with. Installation is quite literally as easy as installing a TV. I cannot recommend this enough.

Dimensions by Franklin
..just kidding. I have similar on another bass, but this, when installed into a '78 Fender Jazz, were too high, non-adjustable, and I wasn't going to route out the body to make them fit. The installation is a breeze, though.. I don't think I did any soldering.

Great system but be aware you will have to route out your bass
I have a fender squire affinity 5 string bass and i bought this to fix a huge grounding noise. As for the preamp and pickups they are super quiet and do their job but we aware you will have to route out the bass and pickguard!!! The fit will not work right out of the boxโฆ

EMG j-set is a Maury P. %10,000 awesome!
Very easy to Install. Everything fit perfect, and the pickups sound just like you expect EMG pickups to sound. Definitely a must have to anyone still in the passive game.

Easy to install, difficult to troubleshoot, customer support was good
Updated: customer support contacted me with an offer to replace a cable that has had quality issues lately. The replacement worked immediately and sounds great. Unfortunately, I had to contact them about a problem they seemed to know about so I'm leaving it 4 stars. Original: Installed following the instruction diligently. No sound. Eventually pulled it all out and took detailed pictures of it all connected in case I made a mistake. Posted a note via their website asking for some advice on what I could change. Haven't heard back.

Best upgrade for stock passives
This has given new life to my Squire vintage jazz bass. I could not slap with the stock pickups and bridge. After this upgrade, slapping is a breeze and the overall tone is awesome. Very pleased
