Excellent LED "bulb", IF you know what you are doing / what you are buying.
I'm saddened to see the ignorance concerning electronics, lighting, LED lighting, and what this product is among many of those who have reviewed this product. What this product is: It is a nicely-arranged array of 2700K (warm white to yellow white) LED emitters that puts out even light in a 360 degree circle around the over one inch long cylindar. It runs off around 12 volts AC or DC. Between the power to the LEDs and the LEDs themselves inside this "bulb" is a relatively sophisticate switching power supply that provided regulated voltage to LEDs. So NO ordinary dimmer will work with it. This was obvious to me from the photo of the item here on Amazon. However, I found that a dimmer specifically for low voltage LEDs that operates by variable duty cycle square wave switching WILL to some extent allow dimming of the "bulb", if that is what one wants. But most of the "in the wall" dimmers... including those said to be for LEDs... will work. That, too, was obvious to me when I saw the circuit inside the "bulb".Curiously, a somewhat unusual electronic dimming system I had installed and wired in my kitchen for the 12 volt bulbs in hanging fixtures over my breakfast nook (which currently have 50 watt halogen incandescent bulbs in them) DID manage to more or less accomplish use-able dimming of these "bulbs".Anyway... what I liked about these "bulbs" is that they thru light evenly all around in a cylindrical pattern, which was JUST WHAT I NEEDED to illuminate the beautiful translucent and patterned stone fixtures I have hanging over my breakfast nook. However, alone they were not an adequate replacement. I had to ADD a disk of LEDs pointing downward, so I could BOTH light up the beautiful stone fixtures AND have adequate light aimed DOWN at the breakfast counter.

Problem is that has to be done every few hours and that's annoying. Also
Had high hopes that we could replace our halogens with these bulbs. Bought 6 for 3 lights and over the next 2 weeks four of them died off leaving only 2. And to think I felt jipped because I had to buy minimum quantity 6. Lights work ok when they're working. Tend to flicker but a small movement in the dimmer slider resolves that. Problem is that has to be done every few hours and that's annoying. Also, the bulbs are dimmer than the 50w halogens they replaced but good enough. I figured it would be an experiment worth trying for $20 but at this point it's back to halogens until the technology improves.

Flickered when dimmed,; Fine if not dimmed
Lights look very nice and they are esthetically pleasing to look at when lit. The color is more around 3000K than the incandescent 2700K. They are well made. I would have kept them for any application that does not require dimming. But my fixture was a set of kitchen counter hanging lights that required dimming. When dimmed, they flicker rapidly and it is annoying to look at. Despite the description that clearly says dimmable, they are not dimmable using standard dimmers. Maybe the LED-specific dimmers will work. But I wasn't going to spend additional money on the normally expensive LED dimmers.

It's light is bright and fits just right. 5 stars!
I used these LED bulbs to replace my 35W incandescent bulbs. 1.) The LEDs fit. Although they are substantially larger than a tradition bulb, it still fit okay and also reflected light off the reflector okay. Good. 2.) These LEDs have a crystal-clear encapsulation (a somewhat rubbery clear substance I can't identify). When new, the LEDs seem bright and have the right color temperature - it's just right. I would say there is more light output than a 35W bulb and maybe slightly less than a 50W -- to me, that's the perfect brightness for landscape lighting, too. 3.) Because these LEDs draw 5W instead of 35W, the remaining incandescent bulbs on the same wire got much brighter too (thanks to less current draw and therefore more voltage getting to the old bulbs). 4.) Overall, my project's power consumption will go from 350W to 50W -- that's awesome. My hope is that these bulbs will last and that the clear coating will stay clear.

Updated- One of the LED bulbs burned out after approximately 4 hours of use.
Received the bulbs and installed them in my pendant lights replacing the halogen bulbs. One of the LED bulbs burned out after approximately 4 hours of use. They are not as bight as the halogen but close. They do dim but only to a point where they are about one half as bright. I m hoping the one bulb was a fluke. Bought 6 and only have 4 lights. So far I am good...Update: the bulb did not burn out. After installing another bulb, the same thing happened in the same pendant lamp. I suspect an issue with the light cauing the bulb to overheat which is causing the bulb to go out. After it cools, the bulb works again.

Not as bright as a 35W halogen and burned out in less than a month
I have 12V high-end pendant lights and these did replace the 35W bulbs but they are a notch dimmer. Speaking of dimming, they do dim without flicker, but not all the way down to off. The light color is close to the halogen too. After a month of use all of my bulbs burned out. By burned out I mean they essentially caught fire and quit working in a spectacular way.

They work well
They do dim, but are not as "smooth" as halogens. At certain dim levels they will flicker but I found that if I keep sliding the dimmer in one direction or another they absolutely will settle and produce smooth light. At any rate they are way more economical than my previous pendant lighbulbs and they still look great. They are longer than a normal GY6 and I did have to remove the frosted glass bulb cover to get these to fit but that's not a deal breaker for me.

Work great in kitchen pendants - saves on the electric bill!
Good value - we have 5 lights and this leaves us one extra which is good to know the color will match. My only minor beef is I would have liked the light color to be a bit warmer. This seems more like 3000k and I would prefer 2700k. But, in the end I decided not to deduct a full star for this.
